The Love Stories of the Lines
Love is everywhere. Love is not what you feel when you first saw a handsome person or beautiful lady smiled at you. Love is not only about a feeling but it is more on actions to feel them that they are loved. There are love stories that the ending is good and happy and some end with sad and worry. Mathematicians are not exempted with those kind of love stories.
When I enrolled my second course where I graduated, I took also an advanced Algebra to refresh my knowledge on mathematics. You know when we heard an algebra, it is all about finding x in order to solve the value of y. (Di ba dili na man na pangitaon ang x?)
In that subject, I learned the three Love Stories of Mathematics. Stories between two lovers may end happily ever after but some may end sadly. These are all about different lines which are represented by the lovers.
Love story 1
The story between two lovers is like parallel lines. Imagine the lines before crossing the lane in the street. These lines never connect or intersect with each other. Same holds through with the two lovers. It was all started with a good smile and became friends. Until they became best friends for long time but they never express their feelings to each other. They are happy with each other. Wherever the girl is, the boy is always at her side. Whenever a boy sits on the other girl, the girl could feel jealous. The boy likes the girl and the girl likes him more. They have mutual feelings and understanding with each other. The girl thinks that boy is her boyfriend. Same feeling also with the boy. But courtship is not happened. They are friends but never more than of friends. Never been kissed, never been hugged and never been touched because they were just only parallel lines.
Love story 2
Another love story in mathematics is similar to intersecting or perpendicular lines. Try to imagine a cross. The two lines intersect or meet but if the lines will extend infinitely both sides, the lines will separate with each other. It happened also with the two lovers. They meet in a certain place, knowing each other and became friends. Day by day, they meet together having date with snacks until they get into relationship more than friends. The storm came into their lives. Because of the third party, their relationship was ruined and destroyed. They broke up because they were not meant to each other.
Love story 3
The third love story is somewhat the same with coinciding lines. Two lines that do not only intersect but overlap with each other. Their direction or destination is the same. Same with the two stories, the relationship of two lovers started with the simple wink. They went different places to make their relationship gets stronger. They also experienced ups and downs in life. When one is hot, the other one is cold. They forgive one another. They understand one another. They love one another. Until they were getting married and blessed with kids.
One more love story is being described by an asymptotic line. This line is getting closer to the other line but never touches the line. This kind of story is the same with parallel lines. They never meant to each other.

Final Thoughts
When you love, be ready to be hurt. Don't give everything what you have to someone you love. Learn to accept the shortcomings and unexpected moments. God has prepared something best plan for us. Learn to forgive and forget. Sometimes, love is like a game, there is a winner or loser. But it doesn't mean that you are weak when you lose the game. Make it as a challenge to feel in love again. As long as your heart is open, the right person will come and will love you. Believe in God's perfect time.
