A woman of both divine and demonic voice, impeccable beauty and striking insecurity, she loved only the wrong man once. The most famous opera diva of all time, Maria Callas, seems to have lived, among other things, to prove the accuracy of the folk saying that all true loves are sad. A woman of both divine and demonic voice, impeccable beauty and striking insecurity, loved only the wrong man once. The temperamental Greek woman who shone on opera stages around the world in the middle of the last century, evoking the characters of Madame Butterfly, Tosca, Norma, Carmen, was actually just a frightened girl eager for sincere hugs and love.

Her attraction was magnetic, so she was more popular than many Hollywood stars in her time. With her unusual life, capriciousness, incredible ambition and a kind of love coup, she captured the attention of the media and the public. She got married once, loved once, gave birth once, and none of that brought her happiness.

In the first picture, Maria Callas as Aida, before she lost weight, and in the second after losing weight. She lost 36 kilograms in a year.

One of the greatest opera voices of all time, she was remembered for many roles, especially in the role of Madama Butterfly.

She was the muse of mostly Italian, but also world directors. Born in the middle of Manhattan, she lived in Greece only from the age of fourteen, after the divorce of her parents. Between great success stands a difficult childhood and an unhappy love story that will cost her her life. As a five-year-old, Marija was in a coma for 22 days. The car hit her hard and dragged her for a long time before he managed to stop. She was rushed to St. Elizabeth's Hospital and miraculously survived. She later said that during that long period of unconsciousness, she heard strange music playing in her ears.

She felt that the insecurity she wore as one of her basic traits was acquired by watching her parents ’bad marriage. The details of her relationship with her father are not known, except that he was not her father's figure as an example, but how she was attached to him and that she suffered for him. She perceived herself as an ugly duckling because she was fat and short-sighted. The years without a father left in America, as well as the atmosphere of war and poverty, were more than difficult for life.

Her parents divorced, and her mother forced her to benefit from German soldiers during the World War II, but she did not want to prostitute herself, so she tried other ways. When she was on the rise, she fell in love with the rich Greek Aristotle Onassis (20 January 1906 – 15 March 1975).

Her heart was broken because Onassis left her because of Jacqueline Kennedy (July 28, 1929 – May 19, 1994) and married her. She had been in a relationship with him for a decade. After that, she retired and lived in a hotel in Paris, until suddenly in 1977 she died of a heart attack at the age of 53.

"First I lost them (pounds), then my voice, then him (Onassis)." The sudden weight loss also affected her voice.

The fact that one bridge in Venice was renamed the "Maria Callas Bridge" after 100,000 people signed the petition shows how much it is still appreciated in Italy today.

One of the most famous and influential opera singers of the 20th century. She was also known for her “bel canto” technique and extremely dramatic interpretations. Due to her exceptional musical talent and extensive repertoire, the section "La Divina" was adopted, and composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein called it the "Opera Bible".
