Meet Li Ching Yuen from the city of Kaohsiung, in the Chinese province of Szechwan, who lived for an incredible 256 years, which was confirmed by the world-famous New York Times itself ...
Evidence of the longevity of Li Ching-Yuen can be found in the pages of the New York Times from 1933, according to whose writing Professor Chengdu of Wu Chung Chieh University found evidence.
In which it is stated that the Chinese imperial government congratulated Li Ching Yuen on his 150th birthday in 1827, and that the same document from 1877 was found where he was congratulated on his 200th birthday and where many of his fellow citizens testified about his longevity.
According to their testimonies found in the archives of the Chinese government and media, Li Ching Yuen began his career as an herbalist when he was only 10 years old, when he collected and studied plants for longevity and potency and applied their benefits to himself.
For 40 years, he lived on plants such as lingzi, goji berries, wild ginseng, gotu kola and many others, while he regularly drank rice wine.
At the age of 71, more precisely in 1749, he joined the Chinese army where he taught martial arts. He married 23 times and had over 200 children.
He learned to read and write at the age of 10 when he embarked on journeys through Kans, Shanxi, Tibet, Anam, Siam and Manchuria by collecting and studying plants. For the first 100 years, he did this and then switched to selling plants that others would collect.
According to one of Lee's descendants, there was even an even older man, who lived as long as 500 years and who taught Lee the techniques of Chi Kung, which is used in Chinese medicine and represents the coordination of different breathing patterns with different physical attitudes and body movements.
On his deathbed before he died on May 6, 1933, Lee said a simple sentence:
"I did everything I could for this world."
This sentence made many wonder what this incredibly long-lived man meant by that. Should all the secrets of longevity be found in nature and in ourselves?
When asked what his recipe for longevity was, he said:
"Keep your heart calm, sit like a turtle, walk upright like a penguin and sleep like a dog."
By these, Lee meant precisely the maintenance of peace and balance in the mind, the regular practice of breathing techniques and the use of plants that make our body healthier and more durable.
