Memory Lane-Alma Mater

Today I went to my school way back in College. After 7 years I only visited it twice, just last week and then today when I am scheduled to get my T.O.R and Diploma.

Just by going inside the Elevator made me feel that "de javù".

I remembered standing in line because there were only 2 elevators and the school is like 10FL Tall. My rooms before would normally start from 4th -7th depending on the subject and our gymnasium is located in the 10F.

I remembered how I struggled going up using the ramp with my black shoes heels or using the stairs because I don't wanna be late when using the elevator.

Also remembered how I always waited for my priority number in this area everytime exam is fast approaching so I could have a stamped on my passbook sort of thing that I have already paid my tuition fee.

Just wanna share. I was a Scholar in our City. The City Government funded all those who graduated High School from year 2009-2010 so we can enrol ourselves to College as this is what the Government have noticed as the main reason of Poverty is Lack of Education. There would only less percentage of Graduates from the School Year before us in College and the Government wanted to see if it is gonna work once at least half of our supposed tuition will be given for FREE. In fact, in Public Schools way back it is going to be for FREE. Coz the tuition fee in Public would range from 7000-9000 php depending on the course. Then the Government funded 10000 php.

While in Private Schools may reach to 20000 or more.

What is the good thing about the School where I chose to enroll is that the President or should I say the owner of the School counterpart to what the City Government gave us. So we could study in a Private School plus we would have all our tuition fee FREE!

So instead of just 10000 Php less its gonna be 30000 php less. So say that my tuition only costs 17000 then I still gotta change since I have 30000 but of course we can't get the change it is just the highest counterpart of the President or owner of that School is 20000 so if you go beyond the added amount of the City Government sponsorship plus the counterpart you would have to pay the remaining amount then but for me, I graduated College for FREE.

Well of course, the Books and the Projects would be shouldered by us or our parents but we also have 1000php allowance from the Government twice a year. So we could use it for our books and any other expenses.

Seven years after, most of my Colleagues are now Professionals. Some already has their own business while others hold a high position in a company.

The Government did their part to their Citizens by that time. Unfortunately, that Politician who pushed it and made it happen were not voted just last Election because people wanted CHANGE. And those people who cried for Change were not even from our place. They were a Citizen and born from other places who transferred here. While those who were born from here including our ancestors would still go for the same person as he cares for his people.

We just can't have all the luck though but I am praying for my Kids to have the same priviledge as what I had.

I am so much thankful for the opportunity because who I am and what I have become were also from those who cared. My mom would tell me she is planning to ask me to apply for a Maid because we really don't have the means to support College.
