Visit to the Motherless home and the prison
Saturday 12th March, 2022
check out my sweetheart sponsors..
Shout out everyone, hope we are all having a cool weekend. This Saturday is awesome in its ways. I joined another group of charismatic student fellowship on a visit to the prison and the motherless home.
The early hours of today was so cold in my side. The weather was so cool that nobody would want to get up from the bed despite not raining. As early as six o'clock, my roomies were lying still covered with sheets. I had to force myself up as maybe we were all waiting for the first person to get up. As I woke up, everyone started yawning and turning their body around; still looking at them, I reminded them what time it is and our plan to go for early morning jog out. On hearing this, they all got up and get prepared for the boomer! we jogged like three thousand meters and it was a lovely outing for the girls!
A friend of mine who is in a Charismatic group told me amidst a discussion that they will be visiting the prison and motherless babies home today. I picked interest and asked if I could go with them and she said I could only if am ready and sure. I have been to this kind of visitations few times but it has always been on Sundays. I had to get ready and prepared for the movement. At noon, she called me out and together with the rest, we zoomed off for the motherless home first. I have been there before for a visit but now is another. We entered and we were all welcomed as usual. They were all out for sports. No doubts, it Saturday. They were in sections and some combines male and female.
For the first time today, I learnt something else. I used to think of babies everytime at the mention of motherless home. But I never knew thet this particular woman whose job is showing people around is also one of them. I was amazed at this thin truth. I never could imagine that, thinking that all the women and nuns there are all workers. When we were having words with some of these grown up women, she said she could still remember another group that gave her the sacramental necklace she's wearing till today but can't remember the person's face. When she said this, my mind was wowed! inside me, I thought; " what so this mother here is also motherless? wonderful! I could remember her face and have always assumed she's a worker but never for once thought of her as one of the motherless. This also means she has been living here all her life and have been taking care of others as well. At the time of knowing this, my mood changed and began to think a lot on my Head....well, I said to myself " that is life " we embrace it and move on! after all, she is alive and living healthy.
We had much time to spend and some of us went playing volleyball with their volleyball team. They played a friendly match and it was a fantastic game to see. Those little kids are well talented. They played like professionals. Even as I watched them play other sports, they did very well. I engaged myself in a conversation with one of the injured teenage girl with a bandaged hand. She told me she got the injury in a just concluded tournament between their school and other schools. According to her, she got the injury and didn't treat it well and played with it again the next day which then worsened the injury. She said she's happy at last because they beat their opponent in the finals by three goals to two. I told her about myself and love for football too and lastly, she said her name is Olivia. So beautiful to see you Olivia as I hugged her and left with my group to go get the gifts we came with.
We presented our gifts and prayed together before they insisted and took us to their visitors room for a little drink entertainment. We couldn't resist that and welcomed the idea. It was lovely with them today and memorable for me for meeting Olivia and knowing that the woman I had since assumed to be a worker is among the motherless. I thank God they were so happy and related very well to each other. They just live together with happiness and harmony. Time to go and I wanted to see Olivia again but maybe she has gone upstairs and I didn't see her again. They walked us to our bus and we bad fair well to see soon again.
The next place to go is the prison but the discussion in the bus was about the just concluded visit; the motherless home. Everyone talked about it and was happy to have gone there. After a while and close to the prison on sighting the very tall fence, we began to talk about the prison. The first scene and reminder is the tall fence which can be seen from a distance. This sight tell you that you're close to the prison and a lot of bumper on the road with a security checkpoint. The very big sign of no mobile phone allowed is placed by and after the gate and on the wall. This must be a serious warning to all men to avoid being arrested. Another sign was no parking or rolling the motorcycle while walking. You must be riding your bike or car and no parking in front. So much security rules. Before we entered , series of questions were asked even though we came on the visiting hours.
Lastly, we were granted access and wow! hands and calling from a near distance from people behind bars. I looked gently at the environment as some of us were giving money to the prisoners that caught their attention. I have heard that they send the guards to buy them snacks and food from these money thy get through visitors. Still, I must say that no one deserves a home like this. No freedom and being controlled to move in and out. They say that criminals and defaulters ends in prison but this is still not a better place to wish for. We took few walks around and the Charismatic leader brought out some clothing and money and handed them over to the wardens. No much time spent there and we left without no one talking about them. All my visit to the prison has always been the same. Inmates though locked up firmly behind bars, security is still tight outside. I wonder how they spend days, weeks and months there. Some persons are sentenced years of imprisonment which is unimaginable to me. It really and truly not a home for humans but we make laws and break them, we built the prison and send ourselves there... If there were no case, there would be no court!
Dear readers, this is how I spent my Saturday today and it was a wavy mean wavy happy Saturday. Wavy happy at the motherless and a bit surprised when I knew that almost everyone there including the workers are all motherless. Wavy mean at the prison because the sight was a mean one. Any unlawful act that would attract even the police should be avoided. The prison is not a place to be .
Thanks for reading and have a great time ahead. #stay out of trouble.

You had a productive day visiting those places and sharing gifts. I also used to visit the City Jail many years back and wondered about a lot of things each time we are on our way home. Just can't help feeling sorry for those behind bars.
