The Jobber Man
when we were born, our lovely home cared and supplied us with all we needed. they were there for us and all they worked for was to see us happy. for some of us, they are still there for us till present. as we grow up, we grow under their care, love and affection. they equip us and prepare us for our future responsibilities by furthering our education. all these and more are what a man gets freely from his parents and loved ones from birth till a certain stage where we are grown and can fend for ourselves.
at this time, we are expected to put to work all we have learnt in our younger days and make a future out of them, for the hands that fed us are no more strong enough to continue feeding us. they have laboured us to stand firm in order to feed them when they are weak, they will need a hand to support them and that was their aim of bringing us to the world and raising us till our responsibility age.
here comes the time for expectations and fulfilment, here comes the time to give back to whom much was given, this is the time to hear from who has been told and the pillar who has been raised to hold the roof. the man whose shoulder is a resting place and to whom all eyes are on. who am i talking about? "the jobber man
"at the early hours of monday, his alarm beeps and he wakes up with a heavy face. his mind made up already about what and how his day will be spent in a working place. he takes a shower and gets dressed, hoping for the best as he takes breakfast to leave. with no car he treks to the bus station and finds his comfort in the bus where his colleagues are hurrying to meet up for work. right there in the bus, he remembers he forgot a file which he had already brought out but left. he looks up and takes a breath because going back is late and the time is running
what was he actually thinking about when he forgot the file? how could he? these and more are questions popping in his head as he consoles himself by saying he knows what to do about it
his job is not his but all his problems, daily expectations high but monthly salary low. by the end of the month after expenses, he will be left with a little to care for himself.
early in the morning again, he wakes up with the burdens of yesterday in his smile and at work, he smiles at everything he sees. be doesn't get angry, he cares and still loves his job hoping for a better days ahead
the jobber man has his bills to pay, his parents to care for and his siblings to care for too. if he's living far from home, it is sure to call or receive phone calls from home, one call asking about his health and the other about him sending money.
he's got to pay his electricity and water bills by himself and cook food when he's strong and less stressed.
"i have so much to do, so much responsibility lying on my shoulders and here i am having a job but yet it is not enough. do i seek a greener pasture somewhere else or should i continue? this is getting worse in this country daily and we need more money to survive. i think i should quit this job when i save up to this amount and maybe try something different. that should be a good idea but ... what about if it doesn't work as i planned? what if i quit my job and it's not the right decision. i have my bills to pay, i'm too young to think too much, let me continue with this work for a while"
the jobber man has his friends he talks with and discusses life with, they see a brighter future amongst them hoping to be there one day but daily, they leave their homes covering their problems with their suits
it is good to have a job, especially high paying jobs. with that, you can live a life you want and make plans easily. money can never be enough, we keep trying but hoping for the best to come
Thanks for reading and have a great week
