My Thursday Memory ..
Holla everyone! today is one on a week, one of the most talked about. Thursday's raises a headline for discussion, all about throw backs and memories. There are friends whom I have for long hanged out with and I remember them today. The place we went and the eating spot we checked. All fun and memories.
Good evening Readstars, what popping? happy Thursday to everyone and in a special way, happy throw back Thursday as always.
I began today's afternoon listening to radio stations. I got to a particular station of my favorite and the vibes on air downed on me that it a throw back day in celebration. I am not really good at listening to radios but todays afternoon was a personal surprise.
After my dad listened to morning news on radio because there was no light, he forgot to return it inside. It was at noon as I was done with my morning routine lately that I heard some tiny voices on the walls. I had thought earlier that it was coming from afar until I walked passed by and saw the already fatigued radio hanging helplessly on the wall. I noticed it was running low on battery since there was no light and I decided to use my power bank to help the poor electronic gadget. It worked out and I turned it on again, louder to my hearing and that was how I started feeling and catching some old days song vibes on my favorite channel.
Country music were rocking and throw back questions were asked by the presenters on radio. It was all fun, I enjoyed the ride and crazy vibes. It really good to listen to radio sometimes again.
This Thursday got me reminding of my very nice old friends whom I snapped some pictures with. The last time I met her was three years ago. LoL! our pictures were looking younger than now.
Her name is Rita, I met her when I went to assist my sister in some errands. We met in the bus and didn't know we were heading for the same place until we got down and headed one direction again. Since then, we have been in touch and haven't seen each other since. I just hope one of these days she comes back from abroad.
While listening to the radio again, there were so many food local and traditional dishes mentioned which are no longer in existence now. I never knew a thing like that or rather heard of them but today. These were the food My great grand parents ate that sustained them all their days. I use to believe that things pass from generation to generation, but how did those food and yummy local dishes fade away.
Maybe it because some of them do not have so much nutritional value. I have learnt that, half of all dishes our fore father's ate are not very well balanced in diet. Maybe that why some of these foods are been found nowadays. But still, as a culture and a cultural food, it is our identity and should be preserved.
So many of them just lost in our modern day menu. I remember what my grandmother says anything my elder sister is making a tomato stew. She always says that during their time, if there is anyone frying a tomato stew, the aroma would fill the entire town. The sweet and natural scent of curry and tomatoes, will fill the atmosphere and everyone will be asking where stew is made. This type of aroma and is not perceived nowadays. The aroma of stew is only heard in the household and not at that great distance anymore. Why grandma was asked why it is so, she said that; even pepper doesn't have the kind of painful taste it uses to have. She Continued that some modern fertilizer application on crops makes them grow faster and bigger. She said it an improvement in agriculture but, it depreciates the natural and original scent of leaves and vegetables.
According to her, during those days of non mechanized agriculture they used farm yard manure on their farm and it was so productive and sound. She said that nowadays, every farmers faith is out on fertilizer. Not so much use the natural sources of manure in their farm, probably because they want to make more income from the hybrid plant and plantations.
She has a good reason and a point she made from my perspective. But for so many reasons, I prefer now to then. Modern ways are just the best, maybe because it my time. All the best grandma, she once told me that they would grind everything including pepper with stones (grounding stone). I was lucky enough to have seen her using the stone in my childhood. It looked bold, big and flat. It is strongly made by a strong rock if not a rock itself. It has a smaller handy one with a flat surface too, used for grinding. It was cool to watch but hard to practice. you have to have some skills to make it work . It looked pretty well but after grinding pepper on it, you would have to remove them with your hands. This is the part I wouldn't try if u were using the stone.
cheers to you all my sponsors
This Thursday reminds me of my grandmother's bead too. She used to wear them every where she goes. It so ancient that it not seen in the market today. Her style of beads are not seen in the market now, even her bead necklace. So different and out of stocks. These she wears and it makes her so happy. I just can't compare my crop top to that of their favorite gown, hehehe!
This evening, I just had to cross check my contacts and put some calls to old friends in fulfilment for the day. It was a throw back Thursday for me indeed.
Thanks for reading and have a great time ahead.

It´s sure a memory with you and Rita. I hope you guys are reaching each other on phone? Well, to me, I still would prefer the old days to now. Things were cheap and there was nothing like killings ,violence or kidnapping except if they go for wars which isn´t that much.
