The voyage..
George was young when he saw the Titanic movie and the fear of seeing a ship sink made him avoid any trip that has to do with traveling by water, it even made him procrastinate on going for a swimming training.
His friends laughed at him many times, they even mocked him in front of their female friends and this made him start attending a swimming training, he couldn't stand being called a weakling because of his fear of the ocean.
He learned very fast and became a very good swimmer within a short time,
he gained some confidence about traveling by water but his friend still made him understand that he shouldn't compare the sea or ocean with a mere pool. He doesn't have a plan of traveling by water so none of their stories threatened him, he didn't hesitate to flaunt his body at the pool. He has fine abs, he works out a lot couple his swimming skills makes pull his shirt whenever he finds himself at the pool, his physic attracts ladies and everyone wants to learn swimming from him.
A few months passed and he went home for the holidays, it was his second time in three years. He doesn't like traveling because of the long hours of traveling by road plus, the road ain't safe due to the bandit's recent invasion in the country.
On getting home, he got to know his cousin would be getting married in two weeks. He tried skipping it because they will be traveling for the engagement by boat but his mom insisted that he must attend the engagement ceremony with the rest of the family and he didn't have a choice.
The day came, and the family left in the family bus for the event, immediately they arrived at the harbor. He asked why not by land and his dad made it clear that completing the journey by land would take 3 extra hours and it is not safe due to the bandit's operation. He successfully hid his fears as they boarded the boat, his mind was racing through the trip.
The journey was smooth and fast, this took away George's fear of traveling by water. He took pictures while returning from the event, recorded videos, and sent them to his friends, captioned most of the images - " Pacific ocean, hear I come".
School resumed again, George couldn't stop narrating how scared he was before the trip and how excited he became during the trip. School activities got serious and everyone soon forgot his jokes.
George and his friends were packing for another holiday before the final year when one of their course mates gave them an opportunity for a side hustle. The money involved was cool but the job was risky, George backed out immediately but his friends convinced him that he can do it.
They would work as a kitchen crew on a cruise ship for two weeks, the ship would travel to and fro an island. George thought about it critically and felt he could do it judging from his boat experience during the engagement ceremony.
"I can do it", he said as he converted $1000 to Naira. He smiled and started planning how to spend the money after the work ends, he called his parents that he wouldn't be coming for the holiday because he had some projects at hand.
The day came and they packed their things for the trip, they did a three days training and test. Surprisingly, only George was selected among his friends. He was excited and the money was all he cared about.
The day came and the working crew were the first to board the ship, they made sure things were in order before allowing the guest came on board.
With everything set, the ship left the harbor. There was music, food, drinks, and even entertainers on board, the guest had varieties of games to play, their rooms were prepared to their satisfaction, George started wishing he was a guest and not a worker, he wanted to have a feel of the luxurious life the guest were having.
That night, their job started and there was a lot of demand for drinks. George enjoyed going around on the ship giving people what they ordered, he was enjoying the job.
On the third night, he looked outside the ship and it was total darkness, everywhere was calm and he loved that natural feeling of the ocean.
He was frightened but took his mind off it since he wasn't alone on the ship. He was coming from the bar with a tray filled with cups when he saw tiny lights approaching the ship.
He ran to inform the security and he was told that there are other boats/ships on the water, it was George's first time and he didn't believe what the security said because their ship wasn't traveling at the same speed the light was moving.
He had a negative feeling about the light based on the movies he has seen so he went back to the bar and told the other guys who were regular crew members on the ship. Everyone laughed at him so hard, one was about to tell him something when they heard gunshots. It sounded like a machine gun and immediately everyone was thrown into confusion.
