When someone shows the acceptable behaviors in the society, such person can be deemed capable to exhibit good etiquette.
When another person display unacceptable or antisocial behaviors in the society, then that person could be seen as someone possessing bad etiquette. The need for etiquette cannot be over emphasized. People around us must not be ashamed or embarrassed by our behavioral display in the society. We shouldn't behave in an illogical or irrational way. Impatience and disrespect for one another will be the outcome of a society without an ordained social etiquette to follow. Etiquette teaches us everything concerning our ways of life, in terms of what to eat and how to eat, how to talk, how to relate with others around us. Etiquette teaches us how to walk and behave in the society.
Good etiquette helps us to earn the respect of people around us. It inculcate a spirit of trust and loyalty in individuals because such becomes more responsible and mature when faced with life challenges. Etiquette improves relationships and social capital between people. There are some compiled social etiquettes expected of us to follow when we are dealing with others in the society.
1. When you are invited to a social gathering or occasion, do not be in a haste to take front seat until your host brings you up. Sometimes we may feel elevated more than the host feels of us. In order to preserve our humility and respect, it's better not in haste to take front seats or seats of position when called to a meeting.
It's ideal when you are being called from where you are seated to come to the front seat. It will show you are being honored as you deserved it. If perhaps you sit in the front seat without being asked to in an occasion, someone of more importance or high social standing may be the owner of the seat you are in and it won't go well with you asking you to stand up for such person.
2. Return money that you borrowed even before the lender starts asking of it. Many people think that they can run away with the money they borrowed probably from their friends or anybody else. One of a good social etiquette is to return money or any other valuable materials you were borrowed when it's time to return them. It shows you have integrity and good character. Don't let your friend who borrowed you money start to ask of it or embarrass you before you pay. Some people have the idea that they would only pay what they borrowed when the lender starts disturbing them.
3. Do not call someone more than two times continuously on the phone. Some people have such bad habit of disturbing someone else with calls. Two missed calls is enough for a person with good social etiquette. If they didn't pick or return your calls presume they have something important to attend to.
Etiquette is not some hard rules created by difficult people. Good etiquette bind a society together and makes us get to live among others in the society more responsibly.
Good mannerism shows how respectable and matured an individual is among others in the society. Good etiquettes are important to be shown when dealing with others.
