In the first part, I describe how we got to the sector known as "Monte Oscuro" after 10 hours of donkey travel, and show photographs of the route.

Sunrise at Monte Oscuro, cold and sunny morning

After breakfast we went out to look for the coffee growers, first those who live farther away, it is a 2 hour walk, we arrived at a hut and found several people in the middle of harvesting. Let's see, who likes freshly roasted and ground coffee? .... to ME ..... If you go to a place where coffee is planted, roasted and ground, then you have to ask for it? ¡¡¡¡COFFEE!!!!.Before saying hello, I asked for coffee, to my surprise, they gave me a freshly prepared and almost pure coffee, but...... the CUP, the blessed CUP, it seemed to be taken out of the garbage, a cup that one day was white, the color was no longer distinguishable, I said to myself it is stained with coffee, I asked for it, I could not despise it now that with so much pleasure they offer it to me. How disgusting, I felt nauseous, I stopped looking at the cup and in 3 sips I drank it. After that I did not pay attention to the plates, cups or cutlery, if I did I would not eat.

What does the inspection consist of? First of all the interested person must go to the main office to request the documentation as an occupant of the land, it is very easy, you only have to submit a photocopy of the ID card and a guarantee of the community where you live, fill out some forms with the boundaries, approximate area and that cultivated, the producer owns the property (crops, fences, house) but not the land, the land belongs to the nation unless it is private land and for that you must submit a series of documents. After being registered in our computer system the inspection is planned, the farthest place I have come in the Turimiquire, is where the Neveri river is born known as "Las Cabeceras del Neveri" at 2200 meters above sea level, it was 22 hours of road making a stopover, in the last stretch we left at 3 am and arrived at 10 pm, when I find those photos I show you the place. In my job I have to review the crop and make recommendations, then walk the entire perimeter of the plot with a GPS to measure the area, then download all the information in the database, then the realization of plans of the plot, the legal information, until in a short time (sometimes it took too long), the documentation of the plot is delivered.

These are my wonderful Sponsors, I invite you to review their articles, they are very good and fascinating, I am sure you will like them.

After the inspection we go to another producer, we arrive at a place called Cerro Grande. When we arrive very close to the site, we leave the animals, because of the danger of the road, they do not go up because it is a very high and steep slope. We continue on foot, up a cliff until we reach the plain.

I marveled at the beautiful coffee cultivation of that site, the trees well aligned, many flowering plants, many others with ripe fruit, a spectacle.

After harvesting, it is left to dry in the sun for several days and is constantly moved to ensure uniform drying.

We went back, now how to go down, it seems to me that it is more dangerous than going up, I have to crawl to avoid falling, it is at least 100 meters high. I asked myself how do they get the sacks of coffee down in this place, someone answered me, I put it on my shoulder and went down, he also had a machete in his hand... and I was crawling to avoid falling.

Well, we stayed at the producer's house, they were waiting for us for lunch, they gave us half an arepita of these, with canned fish, because they are low-income people, they consume a lot of carbohydrates and little protein because of the costs.

Arepas: the producers also plant corn, which after the harvest they parboil and grind to make a dough, give it a rounded shape and put it on the fire until it is cooked.

I can not escape one of our weaknesses increasingly accentuated, girls breastfeeding children, this is our painful reality, to find in such remote places girls of 12 years pregnant, or 15 years with 3 children, 24 years with 5 children and all living in misery, even here do not reach the educational plans, when I made this inspection a few years ago the governor on duty said in the media .... "Sucre State free of illiteracy", it seems to me that our friend does not know Sucre State well, I work in a state institution and I am not proud to live this reality, which every day becomes unsustainable.

Most of the time these children walk naked, diapers are hardly used only when they go down the mountain to the city, here we see a recycling of disposable diapers, I do not know how they will do in the present because a disposable diaper costs a lot of money, remember that I live in Venezuela, our prices are international and we earn in bolivars, every day more devalued.

Time to say goodbye. New sunrise in Cerro Grande, here if I could sleep, after breakfast we went in search of another producer, I also liked his crop had a yellow species and a very well formed coffee seedbed.

We arrive at the house at 2:00 pm, we go to have lunch, after a get-together, go to the creek to bathe..... I could not bathe, this water is colder than the water in the fridge at my house.

Night came, we gathered around a campfire, told anecdotes, had dinner and went back to sleep. Tomorrow we return to the city. Third and last part

Coffee in a dirty cup? I'm not sure about that but knowing more about the living situation of the people there it's kind of expected I guess. It's the growers who do most of the hard labor but doesn't benefit well from their produce.

The mug was very marked with coffee stains, both inside and outside, it is likely that it was washed, but these stains are not removed. There are many people who neglect sanitation, they may serve coffee or food in a utensil that has been used by someone else, without having previously washed it.

That indeed is true. Maybe to some water is just enough to wash things.

I was amused that you had to have that coffee in the dirty cup. XD It's incredible how those people go down the mountain with the coffee sacs.

And it is quite sad all those girls who are already mothers. It's a sad reality in our country.

There comes a time when you get so used to it that you don't take it seriously, you have to adapt, however I laugh at this moment. I met these girls when they were 9 and 10 years old on my first visit, it was a surprise to see them after 3 years with these children in their arms. Sad reality that is accentuated with each passing day.

It's so sad. One day, they have the age to play with dolls. And the day after, they have a baby in their arms. :(
