Why I write the way I do

Everyone who ventured into the art of writing must do so because they have something to offer for the benefit of others, and what is on offer must be that, that truly meets the needs of the time and season of writing. It must be educative, enlightening, informative, and entertaining. And most importantly, it must be to solve a problem. The written information can come from the writer's experiences or studies but it must be from a personal perspective, while at the same time giving the readers some allowance to scrutinize and make recommendations where necessary. However, in doing this, a writer must strive to be unique in the style of writing to be different from others even when dealing with the same subject. There must be a goal or purpose for writing besides making money from it. If it doesn't worth the intention, it will not also be worth any attention. I bear this in mind before embarking on any writing exercise.

So, coming to answer the question 'why do I write the way I do?' I usually asked myself some subjective questions before embarking on any writing subject. Questions such as what problems am I trying to solve with my writing? Who should be my target audience? How will the reader apply the solutions I proffer?.

So here are the reasons for writing the way I do.

To address a problem and proffers solutions

I write always to address a problem, and to proffers solutions to the said problem. Human life is filled with problems, people are everywhere looking for solutions for one problem or the other and they don't have anyone to share their problems with. Many of such turn to the internet to find something that could be of help to them. I write with this thought in mind, that someone out there needs a solution to a problem. And you know what? You may think you are just writing your thoughts, someone is being helped by what you have just published. A big burden has just been rolled over, a suicide thought has just been discarded, a striking relationship has just found momentum again.

Someone wakes up one morning and starts feeling being fed up with life, the only thing that seems logical for her to do to get over the situation was to take her life via a suicide rope. But circumstances have it that she turned to the internet to see if there is any solution for her before embarking on the suicide mission. She landed on a page of an article titled "Suicide is not an option", and in the next 30 minutes, she was all in tears and felt sorry for herself for stooping so low to the point of thinking of suicide as the only way for her to get over her problems. Many such incidences occur every day in this world, and we can do more to save people through writing.

I shared most of my articles across several platforms and forums, not for the sake of earning money from them but that someone might find help in them. My article "no longer I or You, but we and Us" intended for a couple's life did something similar to the story narrated above. A couple in one of the forums I use, find it as the solution to the problems they were having in their marriage. I think someone even promoted the article on noise.cash because she finds it to be of help to her.

They are my experiences

Most of the subjects of my articles come from my interactions with people both physically and virtually. Due to the kind of life I have chosen to live, I have the privilege of meeting people seeking solutions for one problem or the other. I believe whatever counsel I have given that works for someone are worth sharing. The article I published yesterday titled "Nobody owes you anything" was a direct discussion I had with a group of people physically. Part of my discussion with my people formed that article. And, it's true how people think in this world about their lives and the problems they are going through.

Moreover, I have had many experiences that include a lot of falling and rising and I believe what works for me could also work for someone out there facing similar circumstances that I have experienced. Someone called me a motivator here, well, if I can motivate someone to be the best they can be, am much satisfied. I use myself mostly as a reference in my articles to demonstrate how applicable the information am passing across can be. You might say, must I write about myself? Well, I believe that to have a reader feel anything from what you wrote, you must demonstrate to them how it feels. For example, you cannot expect someone to take your story seriously when you write about the benefits of meditation without a corresponding demonstration of your personal experiences about the subject.

I want my writing to be relevant in time

Someone said the best way to live life is to live it doing something that will outlive you. I go with that principle, doing something that will outlive me. I don't just write for only today's readers or just for the moment. I write in such a way that it will still be relevant in the future. Some things can never change in this world, humans will keep being human. No matter the technology or innovations that might come on the world, men will still be men, women will still be women, greed and wickedness will still be here, depression and frustration will continue to exist among mankind. There will still be failing marriages and failing jobs. It might even be worst than it is today. Having a ready library to one's name that people can access to find solutions to their problems will be a delight.

Each time I tried searching for something on the internet, I see information written by people several years back. These people did a great job for their articles to still be relevant today. I go with that motivation to do something with my penmanship that will keep being relevant to people in the future. Oh, well, you might say this platform is not a publishing platform, you may be right. But, I think beyond this platform for my writing. I have a website I created on WordPress.com with the name "All About Life", a free site though. I have started the deployment of some of my articles here to the site. I hope to be able to host the website soon.

I think with this article I have been told it with all honesty why I write the way I do.

Hello, my friend,

I agree with you in your arguments. Yes, there is nothing wrong with writing for the sake of writing. But, if it obeys noble goals and that adds value to others, it is better.

So, in your case, you are doing a great job.

Greetings.

I think I write for almost same reasons you do, especially when you mentioned they are your experiences.

Writhing about my experiences most times help me tell the story in my own perspective and keeps me on track which makes sure that I don't veer away into someone else's fantancy instead of mine.
