You must have heard the title of this article in a movie or a church several times, right? is a popular statement used during a church wedding in which the priest questioned the congregation;
"If anyone feels that the event should not continue, let them speak now or remain silent forever."
It seems that this statement is only familiar with a wedding ceremony in the church, but the fact is that the statement has more to it than just a summary of the wedding ceremony. This statement has a lot to do with everyone because it has the power to make your life miserable or happy and what you allow is what you see. If you cannot speak now you may not have the opportunity to do so again and you may live with the consequences of your silence for the rest of your life. There comes a time when silence is no longer golden, and as such, it is important to speak out because failing to do so can leave lasting consequences in our lives. Sometimes you only have one gun to make it sound. The last chance to challenge or express your opinion on an important issue. Whatever change you see around you, be it in your family, in your company, in your relationships, and in your friends that is not right for you, this may be your only chance to speak, take it or you will be completely silent with regret and pain.
Many people carry hurt or injury in their hearts, and there are many secrets hidden in the hearts of many that carry along in life because they have failed to speak where they should, and they must need to remain silent for the rest of their lives. False marriage is rampant because someone has failed to speak as he should, and when the voice comes out eventually the damage has already been done. Some wives continue to be foolish to their husbands by allowing them to keep extramarital affairs because they cannot speak, and once the damage is done as a man brings a child from y another woman home they begin to see their folly by not speaking at the right time. Many find it difficult to say what they know even if it is a secret that can save a person's life. In fact, people are suffering today because someone else has failed to speak up.
Speaking is a habit not everyone knows. This seems to be due to the way they were raised in childhood and their natural features. Most children grow up feeling embarrassed and withdrawn. No matter how smart you are, if you can't speak you will be stupid forever. Because whenever a person is unwilling or opposed to saying something and be heard, he gives others (those who are the most vocal) the power to force those who cannot speak and are denied public benefits. That is common in the workplace or the company of friends. However, speaking should not be merely a matter of saying something, it should be backed up with a strong sense of humor. Before you can speak, you need to exercise self-control and listen carefully so as not to embarrass yourself. Speech involves emotions, so it is best to do it without arousing mixed emotions.
Why learn to speak before you are silenced forever?
There are several reasons why I think you should speak as you should. Let us consider some of the reasons below.
1. No one will speak for You.
If you don't know before, know now that no one understands you better than yourself. so no one can speak for your interests as you do. Everyone may seem to have the same idea as you, but deep down in your heart, there is something different you want. anything that happens around you is what you allowed. If you feel like something is not right, the situation at work, among your friends, or your relationship may be completely disrupted, you are the one who can speak rather than waiting for someone else to do it for you. Because no one knows the details better than you do, they may lose one or two details or even say a word to you.
2. Speaking is an opportunity to learn and unlearn
To learn more you need to know more, and a good way to do that is with healthy conversations. Unfortunately, not many people are ready to start a conversation even if they have a serious emotional problem. In other words, many live in ignorance. There is always one or two things you should learn from speaking and you should always be eager to participate whether you read or not. Not the enlightening answer but the question. So take a bold stand and ask your question, make yourself and be inclined, speak now, or stay ignorant.
You can share with everyone what you think you know best and who you think is right and who knows if you can be given another answer you never expected or ideas you never thought of. Two heads are better than one, they say. So speak today.
3. Speaking makes you wise
Speaking allows you to share your knowledge with others, and you know that the use of knowledge is what is called wisdom. When you speak give people a piece of your mind. And this helps you to think more deeply and broadly based on your audience level, get a chance to set a record, and add your voice to things that may seem out of place to you. You should always learn to speak to make the people around you understand that you do not like what they are doing and that they are changing their behavior.
4. Speak out so people know where you stand
There is one thing most people do not understand about being asked to speak, silence means acceptance. Your silence is a sign of acceptance of whatever is being discussed with you. Some may think that silence can prevent them from getting involved in any matter, but it is quite the opposite. Silence is as much a part of communication as talking. Whenever you get involved in a situation with people, everyone knows all about your input and your lack. If you don't go along with peace, it will not make you look easy-going. If the problem persists and causes damage people may view it that you are the cause of the damage. Also, you can break the trust and create tension between friends. This can make you regret it later, so speak up when needed and save yourself from unnecessary regret.
Speak now or forever in silence
speak up when your emotions are down. Many things may be out of control, but it is your power to control the words and feelings you pass on to others. Manage your emotions well and let people know you value your well-being.
Speak for others who have no voice or ability to express themselves for any reason. Your voice can be the only thing that can save them and protect them from harm. Be the voice of those who have no voice.
Speak out against injustice in your area and environment. when you see a mistake being made let your voice be heard or your silence can be seen as a harmonious agreement.
Speak up if your opinion needs to be addressed to the person asking.
Finally, speak up because you want to be heard. Don't be forced into your job or relationship, if you believe what you have to say is important, don't be afraid to open your mouth and let it.
If you fail to speak for yourself then no one would do it for you, even the bible tells us to speak up.
