Several of my friends thought that I am good enough to write a book and quite several times I have been asked if I would like to write a book. And my answer has been, a 'no'. In fact, I did give this answer to a dear friend who read one of my recent articles "The 3W of life", two days ago while having a chat on WhatsApp. My son who saw our chats asked me why I didn't want to write a book. My response to my son was "I don't think that my story is worth writing in a book. There will be no one to read it" It was, at the time, he said, "every one of us has a story that is worth a book".
I think my son was right. Everyone has a story that's worth telling. Even if it's just for your children, these are valuable records. For future generations, to experience what you're feeling and to respond in their own time. A Proper note of collections of facts that you, in your lifetime experienced, and written as a story, could be something that can instruct your children about the way of life correctly.
Time seems to change too quickly, and people respond to circumstances base on based on the time of events. But time has a way of killing morality and values. How our children will respond to circumstances tomorrow will be clearly different from how we are responding to them now. A record of how you handled the situation in your time could be a guide to your children in the future.
You might be thinking, there is nothing significant in my life that's worth writing about, or you what to ask me, what can I write about that will be valuable for my children tomorrow?
If you are a person in this world, all the events of your life are worth writing about. Here are a few key aspects of life that are worth documentation.
1. Who are you?
A question that resonates with your body and soul, and such that reveal your true self, and your purpose in life. This question helps you connect with your past, the present, and the future. When properly harnessed, it provides you a clearer view of where you are coming from (your past), and where you are going(your future). It also aligns with your passion and conviction and defines what kind of person you are and how you get to this point.
2. What were your struggles?
We all have downturns in life, we all experience setbacks and disappointing moments, We all suffer in one way or the other. All these moments made you and formed you to be who you are today. By sharing the information, you are allowing others to make an emotional connection with you. This may not be only beneficial to your children but to anyone who reads you.
Your struggles are worth a story to tell, how you survive that heartbreak, how you turned that disappointing moment into a moment of blessings, how you survive that job loss and discover the hidden talents and potentials buried inside of you. All of these can benefit the next generation.
3. What are you passionate about?
Certainly, most people don't know where their passion is, and wouldn't be able to describe themselves relative to what they can do effortlessly. A conscious act of documentation will help you align with your passion as you ask yourself such questions like; What do I love most? What makes my heart beat faster, and increase the temperature? Your Success legacy is what you going to leave behind in the world. To show your children the path of light in this dark world that shows no signs of emissions of light. Your story can be that light that your readers may need to face the uncertain future.
4. What are your experiences?
If you don't write about them no one will know about them. If you think they're worth a lesson for others, share it with others. Not just only for them now, but for time to come. We learn much from our personal experiences. We got to discover our strengths and weaknesses, with our experience, we get to know the things that we can handle. Moreover, we got to learn the solution to some problems from experiences. This, in turn, makes us as solutions to those problems. We can offer our experiences as solutions to the vast problems that bedeviled humanity. And how can you do that except by writing?
5. What do you have to offer to this world?
What is your message to the world? What are the philosophies and wisdom you have? What knowledge and learning do you want to pass along? Identify the message you want to send, and drop it continuously during the entire course of your life. Start today, do it now, time is not a friend to anyone. Let your voice be heard and remembered in the time to come.
Thanks...this write up is encouraging and I'm sure lots of people will benefit from it. With this post I'm sure many would be charged to write their own books.
You are going to do well as a Writer.
