Life is a stage and every one of us are actors on this stage. There's an entrance and also an exit into this stage of life, but between the entrance and the exit, a lot of things happened which define who a person truly is. There are three questions that everyone must ask himself or herself so to make the best out of life. These questions are fundamental to the existence and consummation of human life. These questions are what I refer to as the 3W of life. These questions spanned the entire life of a man, from the day of his birth to the day of his departure from this human planet. They are questions that awaken the subconscious mind to the acceptance of the realities of this life.
The 3W is simple but complex questions of which answers to them provide us direction, stability, and fulfillment in life. Life isn't static, there are ups and downs, and that's the beauty of it all. The color of life is made clearer when we can find answers to the 3W. You just don't have to forget that the way forward is to keep moving forward. Relying on talents, hard work often doesn't bring fulfillment in life. You have to be sure that everything is moving in the right direction.
So what is the 3W of life?
1 why am I here?
2 what am doing here?
3 when will I depart from here?
Let deal with it one after the other.
1. Why am I here?
When you were born, you were pure and innocent without any sense of responsibility in this world. But a time comes when you start having a sense of awareness about life and started thinking that you need to do something for yourself. At this stage of your life, you are exploring the reason for your existence. You are trying to find answers to the question "why am I here".
We often hear that a decision is needed in life. And many times we find ourselves in a situation where we are asked, what have you made up your mind to be? I think it's important for you to know that you are not here on this planet earth by coincidence. You are not born into that family by coincidence, you are not in that marriage relationship by mistake, you are not a father or a mother by chance. There's a divine hand in everything in this life. Things may not seem like you want it, and yet, you are there for a reason. Finding the answer to the question why am I here takes you to the next question, 'what am I doing here?'
2. What am I doing here
Finding the answers to why you are here gives you room to reflect on the question 'what am I doing here?'. Why you are here is way different from what am I doing here. 'Why' speak to the reason, and 'What' speaks of the purpose. When a man approaches a woman for marriage, the reason is to be a husband, a dad, or to quit the single life. But the purpose of being a husband or a dad speaks of the responsibilities.
The question is one of purpose rather than reasons. It's such that invoked energy and passion towards a direction that brings fulfillment in life. You are going to have goals to achieve when you know what you are doing here.
Why is this important? Knowing what you are doing here helps you to go in the right direction, which in turn, motivates you to work hard and increase your energy level. The decision to be successful in life without a purpose often leads to nowhere. And purpose without passion leads to frustration. Passion fuel your purpose from which you derived the primary energy to combat any conflict or crisis.
The tragedy of life is not that you know why you are here but what are you doing here. It's not that you don't have a decision, but there's no solution for the decision to be reached. So, what you are doing here is to pursue your purpose with passion where you derived the energy and resources to combat the challenges of this life.
3. When will I depart from here?
The thought of death shouldn't be one that should scare you, but to put you in the right frame of mind and perspective in readiness for the hereafter. When will I depart from here is a question of retrospective and at the same time of perspectives. We need to live life bearing this question in mind, when we leave the stage what will people say about us? What will we feel about ourselves?
One of the lessons that I have learned in my life is that if you are not the mover of your life, life has a way of moving you. The days turned into weeks, weeks turn into months and the months turn into years. Very soon, you will understand all of this, and you have nothing left, but a heart filled with a sense of regret that you had lived doing things you shouldn't have done.
As a Christian leader and conference speaker, I spend most of my working life delivering key lessons at conferences across my jurisdiction, sharing my understanding in the areas of life experience, and the way to live a better life.
Although we all happen to be from different backgrounds, and our affairs are being the same things, I always ask myself, How can I find more meaning in life? How can I make a lasting contribution to my fellows? And knowing who I am as a relief, I might as well enjoy life before it's too late? Enjoying life isn't in what I might be able to give to myself, but in how much I might be able to impact others with what I have.
Very often, we think that to live a truly fulfilling life, we need to do extraordinary things that will bring us in front of newspapers, magazines, and journals. A meaningful life is a series of daily acts of good deeds, and kindness, which, ironically enough, bring fulfillment in life, and the great hereafter.
Anyone can come into your life, you have to give as a lesson and write your little story in the hearts of men. Every person that passes by, each moment that makes up your days represents an opportunity to show a little more of the compassion that defines your humanity. Bearing in mind that we will one day depart from here should help you to live a more fulfilling life.
Life is so short...but you have to make it sweet!
