My call history

I woke up this morning with tons of calls and messages.i'm the kind of person that doesn't want any form of disturbance when sleeping, but when my sister called seconded by my mum I knew something was wrong but I couldn't place it. When I later picked the call,it was a bad news_ My cousin died this morning!

I didn't know how to feel, that was the least news I was expecting to hear,my heart is heavy! my heart is shattered!! My heart is bleeding!!! This is my first time of experiencing the death of a loved one, indeed death is an inevitable part of life, something that virtually all of us go through at some point,it's one of the most painful experience one has to endure.

My Hospital Visitation Experience

My cousin has been sick for sometime now,I didn't know it was this serious untill he came back from where he resides. He went for laboratory investigation where he was diagnosed of Hepatitis B. He didn't go for laboratory investigation earlier enough,he was practicing self medication ,he never told anyone about his illhealth untill it got to it's terminal stage.

Note that is Paramount you go for laboratory investigation whenever there's an abnormal deviation from your normal function of the body, it helps in early diagnosis and treatment

I visited him on the 13th of April, that was when I got to know that he was hospitalized,on reaching there I met him shivering with a very high temperature. I was surprised, how can someone in a hospital under the care of Doctors and nurses be having this kind of fever and they ain't doing anything about it,I rushed out looking for the doctors and nurses,I saw a nurse on duty eating with her leg crossed. I greeted her and asked if she is aware that my brother is having fever, she said yes and I asked again "what have you done about it"? She was too reluctant to answer me not until I repeated myself with a harsh tone, that was when she dropped her food to come attend to him.

To the best of my knowledge,Nurses are great and they always work tirelessly through dedication and sacrifice, and maintain worthy relationship with patients.but the attitude exhibited by the nurse is so discouraging.

When the father came,I advised he takes him to another hospital, possibly a federal medical center. He agreed,on reaching there,it was congested which affected new patient admission and as such can't be admitted, he was taking back to the previous hospital. I said to myself that I must publish an article about Hepatitis B, because Health Education is the primary means of preventing disease, promoting health and prolonging life.

What is Hepatitis B?

Hepatitis B is a liver disease and by Hepatitis I mean inflammation of the liver and by inflammation I also mean the red swollen of the liver which could result from either injury or infection of the liver making it not to function properly. The liver is responsible for several functions in the body which includes

  • Detoxification of the body

  • Aids in the digestion of food and

  • Storage of nutrients like vitamins

Once the liver is affected all other functions are affected too.

Causes Of Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is actually a contagious disease,it can be gotten from an infected person's blood, seminal fluid or other body fluid, the re_use of contaminated needles and through perinatal transmission ( mother to child).

Symptoms

Most people don't experience any symptoms when newly infected whiile some have acute illness with symptoms that last for several weeks including

  • Jaundice

  • Dark urine

  • Fatigue

  • Vomiting

  • Nausea

  • Abdominal pain

  • Yellowing of the skin

Prevention of Hepatitis B

  • Hepatitis B can be prevented through Hepatitis B vaccine

  • Anti viral prophylaxis for the prevention of perinatal transmission

  • Implementation of blood safety strategy

  • Limit number of sexual partners

  • Practice safe sex

Treatment

Hepatitis B can be treated ,they are some drugs that slows down the action of the virus on the liver or even stop it totally but a close monitoring of the individual is adviced to ensure the drugs are working properly.

Early diagnosis and treatment is vital, get yourself checked today.health is wealth, shun self medication!!!

Nurses? Yeah, they're good with dedication to their works but the other side is a full opposite of professionalism. I always get pissed off by their attitude each time I visit the medical centre but thank God I don't do that often. So sorry for the loss of your cousin. Accept my condolence
