It's been a while since we last had our virtual tour of Luzon, why don't we start again our trip and let's go to Visayas region. My fist ever travel by plane is going in this region with my parents, because my mom is from this region. Just like Luzon, Visayas Region is also rich with untouched beaches and mountains and of course it is also rich the hisrtory of the country.
There are three ways to go to Visayas region, you can go there by airplane which is the fastest way, the land travel that you have to pass through Matnog and ride a ferry and last is via boat which is a way longer travel hours than the first two. I've tried all of those three ways going to Visayas. My first travel going there was via boat when I was in Grade 5, it was a 24 hour boat ride and it was also that time when I realize how much I like to be in the water, how it can calm all the demons in my mind and how I love watching flying fish in the middle of the night. My dad is my buddy watching at the view deck watching the calm water and the bright moon at the middle of the night, anyway let's go back to the topic and back to our tour.
Tacloban City
This is where my mom came from but I never learned to speak their dialect but I can understand some of it just don't talk to me in full waray mode. Guess it was because I was born and raised in Manila and we really never stayed there for such a long time. Think the longest I stayed there was 2 weeks. Going to Tacloban via Boat ride will take 24 hours of your time traveling and it was worth it because you will passed by under the famous San Juanico Bridge that connects Samar and Leyte. It has a total length of 2.16 kilometers - the longest bridge spanning a body of seawater in the Philippines. Remember I said earlier that this region has it shares with the Philippine History? This is where General Douglas MacArthur first landed in the Philippines and this is also where his "I shall return" speech was made.
There are so many things to do in Tacloban now unlike when I first went there before and I'm sure you'll more enjoy it now.
Cebu City
Cebu City is also called as Queen City of the South. It is the popular jumping off-points of foreign visitors, with the busiest sea port in the Philippines and second largest air hub. The first time I went here was because of work but I had a chance to roam around nearby tourist spots and after a few times of going there because of work my friends and I decided to have a 4 days vacation tour in this beautiful city. We had a free accomodation for three nights at Harold's Hotel that time that's why our expenses were less that time. On our first day after we check in at Harold's we hire a van so we can go straight to this zip line site in Liloan. The zipline is about 800 meters that will cross the lake going to an island and back. Did I enjoy it? Nope, Because I was so scared of zipline LOL but my friends enjoyed while I enjoyed the hanging bridge and fishing. Yep, I do enjoy fishing even though other people says it is boring. After in Liloan we head back to the city to visit Basilica del Sto. Nino, the oldest Catholic Church in the Philippines.
After visiting Basilica del Sto. Nino we go straight to Magellan's cross. It is one of the main attractions for tourists because of it's part in the Philippine history that was planted in April 1521 by the Portugues explorer Magellan.
On our second day, we left the hotel early morning to go to Oslob, the whale shark point.
Oslob is popular for its whale shark watching activity and they will also let you experience a chance to swim with the gentle giants. It was fun and exciting but i also feel sad for the gentle giants because they keep on feeding them just to make sure that the tourist got a chance to watch and swim with them.
After in Oslob, we head directly to Tumalog Falls, where one of the most beautiful falls is located. Tumalog falls is quite near Oslob and if you want to avoid crowd it is best to visit it early. The water at Tumalog falls isn’t too deep, so even if you aren’t a confident swimmer you should be able to get in as long as you can touch the floor but since I do know how to swim i'm quite confident exploring the water.
On our third day we visit Mantayupan Falls, It's a 2.5 hours away from Cebu City. Mantayupan falls is also known as Ambakan is a two-tier cascade, in the Barangay of Campangga in the town of Barili. This falls is also the highest falls in Cebu.
After visiting the Mantayupan Falls we head back to the city as it was our schedule with the Skywalk Extreme Adventure that is located at the Crown Regency Hotel & Towers.
We wasn't able to visit Kawasan Falls during our trip because during that time they were developing it for canyoneering.
Think I have to end it now here as my eyes are dropping already, Hope you enjoyed this virtual tour and I'll see you again on my next article for the continuation of this Cebu trip.
