I Got Shortlisted
My freelancing journey isn't that amazing but I can say that I have some progress. Not based on dollar earnings but based on the things I've learned along the way. I'm still in the process of learning things. Right now, I'm learning how to pitch properly. I'm not good at pitching myself, so this is challenging on my part.
Even in my blogs, I am not fond of sharing what I wrote with others. In Club1BCH group chats, discord, etc there are sections where we can promote our articles, but I seldomly do it. It clearly says I am not good at selling myself or my service. Since I am eager to enter this Freelancing kingdom, I must learn this stuff.
I Got Shortlisted In One Of My Application
I haven't made new proposals in my Upwork account yet as I was still in the process of optimizing my profile first. Then, learn the proper pitching or sending proposals. But despite not doing it on Upwork, I also try applying whenever I see an opportunity in Facebook groups.
I think a month ago, I replied to one of the commenters on a certain post that they are hiring for a full-time writer. I chatted with the lady and she asked me basic questions like experience and if I have a laptop. I answered her precisely. Then, at last, she sends me the form of application. She was just a recruiter.
I wasn't expecting any more to hear from the application because it took a while before I received a response. But last September 20, I received a response that I got shortlisted. Along with that, I have to take a paid test. I replied immediately as I was interested in it.
Just 7 hours ago, I received another email from them. It was the guidelines and the topic given for me to write. I read through the guidelines and it was overwhelming. Recently, I've been comfortable writing SEO content but this one is different. It says I must forget about SEO and just focus on customers' queries and write for them, not for Google.
I have 3 days to take this test. It is not an easy test because I have to do research on the given topic and come up with new ideas from the information I get from my research. They also clearly state I must not rewrite any from the source even a single paragraph or else I won't pass the test.
Shortlisted means...
A list of people who have been filtered out as suitable for the job. I was glad, I was one of the candidates that they considered for the job but I must work hard on the test first.
I was hopeful when I received the shortlisted notice, upon reading the guidelines it seems so complicated. But, if I like to pursue a professional writer level I must give it my best shot. I will still do my best, hopefully, I can make it.
What I like about the company is that they'll provide training for their writers, so I was thinking if I'll get hired I can learn a lot from them and hone my writing skills even more. Plus the compensation is considerable.
So, I'll start researching now.. so help me God! Amen.
