The Sign

November 19, 2021. Friday.

Diane was a Second Year College student when she started working and at the same time she still studying that time. Because her parent's income is not enough to sustain her education needs and her other siblings, she have five siblings and she is the eldest of them. So she thought of becoming a working student because of their situation and she experienced a lot of sufferings in her First Year College because their family is lack of money. She was told that she went through a lot of hardships because college was expensive, so she didn't want that to happen again and this forced her to work while she's studying.

She found a job and it is in a Fast Food Chain because it is also the only ones that accept working students. At work she met many other people and made many friends. Until she met someone who had been of great value to her, Michael. She first worked at that fast food chain and two months after she worked, Michael came. When she first saw Michael it was as if she didn't care for it and in fact she didn't pay attention to his, but when they looked at each other unintentionally, eye to eye, she felt something strange but she ignored it yet she didn't gave gave it a different meaning and ignored what she felt. As time went on, Michael started talking to him, she called Michael ‘Kuya’ because she knew it was older than him. As the two of them got to know each other, she found out that they were both studying at the same University. They were surprised and did not know that they were attending the same University, because they did not meet at that university. And from then on when they found out, they always talked about their studies until they even talked about their personal lives. Michael is two years older than Diane, Diane is Second Year college and Michael is Third year college.

After a few months, they became very close to each other. Their friendship is also deepening because they always talk to each other and they are always together. They are both happy every time they are together and their co -workers also see it, because at university they never meet. Until one day someone told Diane that Michael was not a straight guy and that he had a boyfriend, Diane was really surprised by what she found out. That information came from one of their co -workers who was also studying at the University they were studying at. She said she saw it once with a man and Michael called the man with him 'Babe' and she said they were very sweet and clingy to each other. Diane doesn't know how she should feel, because she don't have a relationship with Michael but she knows that they already have deep feelings for each other and she knows that she wasn't the only one who felt it, she knows Michael also feels the same way. Because Michael treated her differently from all his co -workers.

They had known each other and been friends with Michael for 5 months before she found out about his personality. But at first she did not believe what their co -worker said. She wants to know what's the truth first. And she was sad to know that what their co -worker had told her was true when she once saw that Michael was with the man their co-worker was referring to. And she found out that these two have been in a relationship for two years. She has no right to be angry and jealous because she and Michael have no relationship so she just keeps quiet. From the day she found out the truth, she started avoiding Michael, she didn't talk to him much and pay attention to him. Whenever Michael have a question to her, she only answers the question. As she avoids Michael, her feelings for this person deepen but if she continues to talk and join him, maybe one day they will see by the boyfriend of Michael and this person might get angry with her. So she decided to avoid Michael completely and ignore it even though they are always see each other and meet at work.

Until one day Michael noticed Diane avoiding him. He asked her why but Diane decided not to say the real reason why she was avoiding Michael. The only reason she said was that she was always busy and she did a lot in his studies so she didn't have time to talk and come with him when she was invited. Until one day when she went to work, she wondered why she didn't see Michael, that day was Sunday and every Sunday the working students could not be absent because they only went to work on Saturdays and Sundays. She waited until night for Michael but she did not see Michael in work. Until one of their managers said that Michael was at the end of his contract and he did not renew the contract. It's been 6 months so Michael's contract is over and she was sad to think that Michael didn't renew the contact. It also means that she won't be able to be with Michael again because when they are at university, she can't talk to him and they can't get along and when she sees him, he is always with his boyfriend.

As time went on, Diane thought that Michael wasn't just a friend for her back then and that she thought that Michael was even more as a friend to her. She and Michael had a very deep relationship and even though Michael had such that gender, she accepted it because she didn't feel that he wanted a man either. In fact, someone who knew Michael who was also their co-workers said that he was not a gay and that he was just Bisexual where he liked a man and also liked a woman.

And it was a long time since she had never met and talked to Michael again. And one day she got the news that Michael was separated from her boyfriend. In fact, she really wanted to give a chance to whatever she and Michael had, she heard that herself from what Michael said when one of their co -workers asked him, that Michael also had a feelings for her, it's just that he had a relationship at that time so they can't be together or they can't be in a relationship. So she thought of asking for a sign if there was really a chance for the two of them. She didn't really know if it was true about those signs but she still tried. The sign she demanded was that in case Michael had a boyfriend again it meant there was no chance for the two of them. In fact, she found out that Michael had two boyfriends before she met him. So she said that if she has a boyfriend again, there is really no hope for them and maybe she really wants a man but she also said that if a woman is to be Michael next relationship, even if it's not her because it's also vague since they no longer meet, there is still a chance for the two of them in the next time because it is possible that Michael would be in a relationship with a girl. So she will wait for that.

A few years passed and she almost forgot about the sign she asked for. She has also met a lot of new people and new people have come into her life. Diane has also had a boyfriend these years ago but they just separated due to misunderstanding. But one day she did not expect to see Michael again. She saw it with someone else. When Michael also saw her, Michael approached her and asked how is she, she answered his question and she also returned the question of how he was doing. Michael's answer was that he was fine and he introduced to Diane someone whose with him and Michael told Diane that this person was his new partner.

Diane came to her senses and just said the word "Now I Know" in her mind.
