Why do I think the PH will not easily absorb Dubai 4-day-work-weeks?

The economic business sectors are now eying the newly implemented modernization in the business day of work of Dubai, as they sign the paper that allows the people to work within four days per week instead of the practical Monday to Friday, instead, Friday will be the start of the weekends. The idea came across to the high levelled economic country, but what if the Republic of the Philippines also implies this mandate? Is this beneficial or just another burden for normal Filipinos to think?.

I remember when I was in college, the school administrators in my 3rd Year of studying also tried this scheme in our university. Every program department had one day of vacancy for weeks, especially third and fourth-year colleges, so they could visit their thesis or could plan for their future study. They give Friday as the vacant day instead of a different day scheduled per program or institute.

Studying my Agriculture course was really interesting, we don’t just focus on growing crops, raising animals but also on the business and economics side of the courses. I saw the newly published governance mandate allowing the people to work only in a limited business day interesting but also the bad side of blues came to my mind later.

Why do we work? If your answer is to earn money? You're right. But in economics, we are working to help the country's economy. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Product (GNP) are two important things after taxations.

That’s one of the problems to be faced if the government of the Philippines also implies the new trend because two days specifically Saturday or Sunday stagnation resulting really in some economic problem. What happens if three working days the economy won't process goods? It may have an impact on the supply and demand of the goods, prior to the primary needs of the Filipino.

Another is the system where private and public own companies' protocols. In public or government-owned offices, it was implied that Saturday and Sunday would be weekends and much had no work. But the education sectors as teachers are not having that kind of business days, they are still working even on weekends.

In terms of politics and investment, there will be collisions if the government will impose it as optional or just for the company that wants it. Investors will choose to invest more in a company with longer days of work rather than in limited as four. The reason is GDP  and money cash flows.

We are still in the idea that the more days the workers are productive the more output and income it will add to the treasury, that’s the one that seen as the problem when a company of facemask and alcohol closed for a couple of days, as the demand rises the supply begins to fall. So when they got a grant that they should work for it, some companies really had to deal with day and night shifts, which resulted in high supplies that we could afford.

If I am the investor, I will surely invest in a company that has working people and days so money won't get stagnant for the long run.

But why did they want four days of work? This will also solve a lot of problems and research says that the productivity of individuals who work for 4 days was higher than working exhaustion in 5 days. They wanted to give time so workers would have peace of mind, lay low of the existing sitting appearance which they said that overweight people are because of working the whole day, so they wanted to give Friday to Sunday as their fitness day.

Research also said that some countries had a limited or declining number of babies born because parents are focused on working. In the economy, human power is a big deal, the number of children produced in the future after the retirement of people. They gave the weekends to produce babies lol, they wanted the weekends so more days parents will have time for their children rather than work.

So why will the Philippines impossibly normalize it? It's not the government that doesn't want the scheme but the people. Ordinary Filipinos will always look at the job where she or they will be paid 7 days a week, they don’t look at the weekends.

The no work no pay practice is also the one that was making people not to looked upon this time. Those working part-time or contractual will see this as a burden instead of a benefit. As the salary will expectedly decrease for the more days they are considered absent.

Of Course, it will be beneficial for the government working or those with positions which pay them still even not completing the working days. Those had permanent positions in either government or private businesses.

I also expect that some senate representative of the Philippines will also create a bill that will normalize this kind of workspace in the Philippines, whether they see it’s a benefit for the workers who work as permanent but not in those who wanted to work for the whole weekdays so they could have some more income.

What do you think? Do you want to work for 4 days work-week? And what is your opinion on this four days work-week? Thanks for reading…

There will be always a good and a bad side in every decision. We have to compromise if we follow the 4-day work. For me I am infavor with it but the time will be longer. 3 days is good to rest.

I've learned something today hahaha. Mindset ko kasi, I work to earn money. Pero some of us pala work for the benfits of the country's economy. Naguilty naman ako sa kaselfishan ko hahaha. Anyways, medyu di ako pabor sa 4 days besh, haha lalo na if no work , no pay yung company hahaha. Okay na yung 5 or 6 days ahahha.

Oo sakanila sa ibang bansa pwede yan, 4 days of work tapos pwede silang mag rest simula fri-sun. Wala silang proproblemahin sa salary nila kasi nasa ibang bansa sila. Mayayaman mga amo nila doon.

Tsaka impossible yan dito satin dami na nga problema e 🤣 for sure yung pamahalaan di nila hahayaan yan. Haha wala sila makukurakot lol

Well for me who work six days a week it would be beneficial in terms of health but when it comes to my wallet it's another issue. In my current job most of our workers are paid base on their day to day loads. so we are in the no work no pay scheme. Most people like me even though tired would want to work for more days so that we can bring home groceries that would last until the next salary day. If they will implement these 4-days work bet many will contradict especially food stall companies
