First of all, this article is not related to the trending romantic comedy Korean drama "Business Proposal", but I somehow adopted the title from it. Ehe!
A few months ago, around January, I have written an article titled "Buying a Piglet with Bitcoin Cash: Hog Raising Business" where I have shared that I bought a piglet intended for my mother to raise to become a mother pig or sow that breeds piglets for me to start up my plan and business idea of having a hog raising business. And after a month from that, I have also written that I'm Feeding my Pig with the Help of Bitcoin Cash where I shared that I converted some of my BCH earnings again to buy another sack of feeds for the pig to eat.
The pig has already grown big and I'm actually thinking about selling it in the market so that I can recoup my initial investment already. However, I am torn between getting a quick profit and sticking with my business plan of having it as a long-term investment. I am thinking of selling the pig already so that I can buy 3 to 4 piglets again for my mother to raise, and then sell them after 3 months when they have already grown big, and I will continue until I have a lot of piglets to raise already. It's like rolling the capital with the profits earned. But I also think that it would be difficult to look for piglets to buy since there are only a few who sells them now. So I thought it is better if I have my own sow that will breed piglets for me to grow.
So I have been watching videos on YouTube of those people who have successful hog-raising businesses for me to learn from them. I really want to take this business seriously since I can see that it is a profitable industry that's why I'm taking the time to learn how to manage this business well. And after countless videos that I have watched, I have made a conclusion that I will not sell the pig intended for breeding, instead, I should allocate another capital intended for Fattening. This way, I get to Breed and Grow and Grow out too.
Since my uncle has a spacious pig shelter and pens already, I have nothing to worry about the place where the piglets will stay anymore. That means the only things I need to consider now are the capital that I will need to buy the piglets, for their feeds (Starter, Grower, and Finisher), and the labor or manpower.
I have been thinking about and planning this business for a few days or weeks now, and this is my initial plan for it.
Breed and Grow Pig Business:
I have started with this business idea last January by buying 1 piglet to grow intended for breeding. It's been more than 4 months already and based on what I have watched, it will take 8 months to even a year before it can bear piglets. That means I will need to provide feeds for it to eat as it keeps growing.
My plan is that once it breeds already, I will not sell those piglets, instead, I'll be the one to grow them, and I will only sell them when they are good for selling already. This way, I'll have more profits than if I sell the piglets right away. I can also pick one female and grow it to become another sow again.
Grow Out or Fattening Pig Business:
For this one, I'll have to buy new piglets again intended for fattening or growing out, where I have to raise them for 3 months or more, and once they're already big enough, I will sell them and use the money to buy more piglets again. I'll be rolling the capital with the profits earned to expand the business.
Number of piglets to buy- 10 piglets
In starting a business, it's better to "start small" to test the water first, but if you have enough experience and knowledge about the industry already, it's ideal to start big, especially if you have enough capital for it. So I'm thinking of buying 10 piglets to grow at the same time to achieve the maximum potential profits in just a short period. 1 piglet is now worth 4,500 pesos ($90) so that means I'll need 45,000 pesos ($900) for the 10 piglets.
Feeds to Feed the Piglets:
Aside from the capital needed to buy the piglets, another expensive thing that needs to be considered is the feeds that the piglets will eat. In 3 months or more, they'll need to eat Starter, Grower, and Finisher feeds, which now cost about 1,750 pesos ($35) per sack. Since I'm planning to raise 10 piglets, I'll probably need 5 sacks of each type of feeds for them to eat, which will cost me around 26,250 pesos ($525) for 15 sacks.
Labor or Manpower:
Since I don't have enough knowledge about raising the piglets and I'm a little bit finicky (maarte) to do the work, I have talked with my mom about my business plan and I told her that she'll be raising 10 piglets for me, and in return, I'll be paying her 3,000 pesos ($60) per month. Upon hearing it, she got excited and immediately accepted my job offer.
I know, others here would think that it's quite disrespectful, but I'm doing business here and she accepted the job. Lols! Of course, I'll be helping her from time to time as well.
Expenses Breakdown:
Piglets= P 45,000.00 ($900)
Feeds= P 26,250.00 ($525)
Labor= P 9,000.00 ($60 x 3 = $180)
Total Capital- P 80,250.00 ($1,605)
Cost per pig- P 8,025.00 ($160.50)
So these are the expected expenses or the total capital that I'll need to start up this grow-out or fattening pig business that I'm thinking of.
Expected Revenue and Profit:
Price per pig after 3 months- P12,000.00 ($240) or higher
Total Revenue- P 120,000.00 ($2,400)
Less Expenses- P 80,250.00 ($1,605)
Total Profit- P 39,750.00 ($795)
Profit per pig- P 3,975.00 ($79.50)
And this is the expected revenue and profit after 3 months of raising the pigs.
Well, I'm just sharing with you the computations that I had while planning the business. Lols! As you can see, there is really a huge profit in this industry, and the profits would even grow exponentially if it becomes successful.
Anyway, this is my business plan for now and I'm planning to materialize it soon. I'll be sharing the journey here once I have already started the other business. After all, the capital I'll be using will come from my Bitcoin Cash earnings.
So cheers for the success of this plan!
I wish you success on this journey
