...she smiled jokingly and asked: "Are we, enemies"?...... And they laughed over it. To Micheal, he meant everything he said but to Anita it was just a casual proposal for friendship so she didn't think about it.
Meanwhile, Angel and Maxwell were in the bedroom doing what couples do. They were both birds of the same feather and so they blended very well. It was getting very late in the evening, Anita was getting very uncomfortable staying out for so long, she was scared especially about the school rule. Anita was always cautious of the fact that she was on scholarship and that was more like the only hope of going to school she had.
Well, this Saturday was well spent, Anita was already looking forward to having a more interesting Saturday than this one.
Words that Pierce the marrow
It's Sunday and as usual, they attended service together. Angel wasn't the church type but had to Anita as that was one of her tactics to get her on her side. On this Sunday, the minister preached about "abortion of babies". He told the congregation that whosoever commits abortion is considered a murderer and that they are killing innocent souls and such will not see the kingdom of heaven. He reminded them about one of the 10 commandments which says "thou shall not kill". He furthermore threw more light on his topic.
Guess what!! All this while Angel hasn't been comfortable because it was as if everything pointed directly to her and the life she lived. Angel had committed two abortions and still counting. "it was her life and she would live it the way she wanted" this was how she felt. She couldn't wait to leave the church as her conscience was already suffering her. At least she was a human being and needed to feel guilty even if for once. She felt GUILTY but not REMORSEFUL. Service ended that day without Anita noticing what her roommate had been like during service. They spent the Sunday evening having a mini party in their room.
A new week came and all was going well. It was Wednesday afternoon when Angel told Anita that they were being invited to a friend's house warming party. Since Anita had trusted Angel so well, she agreed to go with her. The party was scheduled for Friday night and since it was already weekend, Angel was able to convince Anita that they would be returning to school on Saturday evening, Anita agreed since she trusted Angel so much.
Friday came so fast, Angel had already gone shopping for both of them. That evening they boarded a taxi to town. They halted on reaching a duplex with the inscription "ANDREA EXCLUSIVE". This was their destination.
The beginning of the end
Andrea was the host of the party, a friend to Angel, Maxwell and Micheal. "Birds of the same feather, they say, flock together" and so he was no different from the trio. It was the first time Anita was attending a night party and she tried to comport herself so that it is not noticed that she was still a novice. All nooks and crannies of the house were filled with people chatting, cracking jokes and laughing but it was just Anita to herself. Soon the party took off properly. Angel was with her lover Maxwell while Anita was alone until Micheal came and offered to dance with her and since it showed no harm, she agreed. Not long, they were both offered a glass of wine, innocently, Anita took hers...
