On Christmas holidays.
When it comes to preparing for Christmas, one can't just calm down sometimes, alot of things start going through a person's mind and you can't just point out how you'd make it perfect. Here is the truth: It doesn't have to be perfect for you to enjoy it. Christmas can be celebrated in a very simple way. It's something that happens every year so you can always take your time to do what you couldn't do now till the next year.
Although most of the secondary and primary schools in the country have already embarked on the Christmas break, tertiary institutions are yet to do so and when they do, I don't even intend going home for the Christmas celebrations (despite the fact that I live in the same state I school in). I and my Christian friends who live in other states have decided to celebrate in school, in our own way! π
You see, the Christmas holiday is going to be very short lived and for this reason, those who live in very distant places will not be going to home for the celebrations even though they'll love to, so they have no option than to sit in school and what it go by, so I want to stay with them and we plan to organizs our own little party, invite our small circle of friends, have fun, praise the Lord and then get back to business lol. On Thursday or Friday we have planned to go to the market and buy things for the celebrations, or we might just go to a shopping mall or a cosy restaurant if things seem to stressful. Zero stress in life haha!
Aside that, of the reasons I will just spend Christmas holidays in school is that I do not wanna go home now. Why? I don't really know but it does have something to do with the kids at home, these days I can literally give up anything just or maintain silence to calm my brain, heart, soul and mind. The kids at home won't allow me that. Another reason is that I intend using some of the days to cover some academic stuff since I am still left behind, going home will be a major distraction. Of the things I don't know and will never know how to do, studying at home is one of them. At home even if there's no distractions around me, I can always create on myself lol.
So, Christmas isn't just about how much you spend on clothes, food, drinks and all. It is about love, compassion and togetherness. You don't have to kill yourself before you have a nice time celebrating Christmas. If you can't afford buying those expensive things you see your friends buying, it doesn't mean you're lesser than them and it doesn't mean that the way they celebrate Christmas is better than yours. Even if you have the means or money but have other plans for it, you don't have to spend it all during Christmas, remember, a new year comes with new responsibilities, new resolutions, new everything, the money you save up for next year can help you kick-start it on a good note. This is especially for those friends of mine planning to do detty December π. As the December dey detty, make sure your January clean lol.
In my case, it's not like I and my friends do not have the means, but we are sacrificing it for a long - term goal. I am not saying we shouldn't spend on Christmas..I mean if you do not celebrate Christ's birthday in the best possible way,.. Whose birthday will you now celebrate? What I am simply saying is that Christmas celebrations go beyond spending and spending. The main thing is the love there's. Something as simple as giving out little gifts to your friends and family can be enough, just like the magi did for baby Jesus.
Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year in addy!

If one doesn't have enough he/she shouldn't beat himself about it. Celebrate with what you have and do what you can afford. Is not a big deal.
