It was already confirmed through some teasers from Ford itself, but now all the details about the first SUV produced by Ford Performance arrive. After testing the Ford Puma ST-Line in the 155 hp mild-hybrid version, there is a great expectation for the arrival of this Puma ST.
The objective was to create a practical SUV that is simultaneously fun to drive. And if that already happens with the most powerful version of the Puma so far, this one will be even more special and promising. Presented in an exuberant and exclusive color "Green Mean", the Puma ST boasts other details in black as the roof, the mirrors, the aileron and a side frieze. We also have an exclusive front spoiler to reinforce the aerodynamics and increase the “downforce”. Like the Ford Fiesta ST, the Puma ST features a rear with an exclusive diffuser with two exhaust ports. The exhaust valve has also not been forgotten, which means that the Puma ST can change the “tone of voice”, according to the selected driving mode. Outside, we also have 193 † alloy wheels with two designs different, which mount Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with specification for the Puma ST. As expected, the block that equips the new Ford Puma ST is the same as the Fiesta ST. A 1.5-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost, with 200 hp of power, but with an increase in torque to 320 Nm. It announces 6.7 seconds to reach 100 km / h and a top speed of 200 km / h. Average consumption is 6.9 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions 155 g / km. This if we manage to control the right foot, of course ... Braking has also been improved with 325 mm discs at the front as well as structural rigidity to compensate for the higher center of gravity. The suspensions have also been changed to improve handling and cushioning on more degraded floors. According to Ford Performance technicians, steering is even faster and more accurate, and stabilizer bars are available at both the front (24 mm) and the rear (28 mm) . In this way the stability of the Puma ST in curve increases, despite the higher center of gravity. Inside, in addition to the inscription “Ford Performance” on the door sill, and the ST badge on the bottom of the steering wheel, we have the excellent Recaro seats with a good compromise between comfort and support.
The driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport and Track) are now selected directly on the steering wheel and the standard equipment includes heated seats and steering wheel, central digital screen, wireless smartphone charger, front and rear parking sensors, and info system - SYNC 3 entertainment with 8 ”screen and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems. Three equipment packs are available to enrich the already interesting standard equipment. In addition to the “Performance Pack” which includes a mechanical self-locking differential and “launch control” mode, there is also a pack that adds several driving assistance systems, and another that includes special wheels and LED headlights. Ford already accepts orders for the Puma ST, but prices are not yet known nor the date of arrival of the first units on the national market.
