Bus Rush

Good day beautiful people, it's a sunny day here and I am not overwhelmed with work today. I'm going to try to rest. I know that after the call, comes the storm, so I might be very busy with work from tomorrow.

As usual, I don't know what to write lol but I'll start. This time last year, I had just moved to a new state and trying to get some basic necessities at the market. I didn't have anything apart from my clothes so I had laid my blanket on the floor the previous night and slept on it. I met some wonderful people, made new friends and grew a lot. I remember one of the journeys I had during that time. I decided to travel home and spend the weekend with my family.

When I got to the park, there were no buses which was very unusual. It turns out that some people had even been waiting for three hours for a bus to arrive. I found a shade and stood underneath it to shield myself from the sun. As there were no chairs, I had to stand and wait for the bus. I held my bag and phone tightly because of thieves or pickpockets. I later texted my dad to inform him of the delay. After a while, I started feeling hungry but I usually don't eat while travelling because I get nauseous more easily and more likely to throw up if I eat. After waiting for a while, I gave up and got myself a cold milk drink.

My legs started to hurt and I took turns resting my weight in each leg and soon after, a bus arrived into the park. I didn't know the exact destination the bus would be going to but I knew it was heading to my state of residence. As the bus approached, people began to put on their game face and got ready for war. Yes, war because it was just one minibus and about 30 prospective passengers. There was no way the bus would fit everyone so we had to prepare to fight for a seat. If you couldn't get a seat you would have to go back home after waiting for 2-5 hours. I put my phone in my bag and zipped it up, I tied my hair into a bin and I made sure my sandal was properly strapped. I looked at the faces of everyone knowing not all of us would survive this battle. I properly scoped the competition, their luggage, size, children, look of determination etc and I knew I had a fighting chance.

After taking way too long to park in the right spot, the driver got down from the bus. The rest of us stood by the door, waiting for it to be opened. As the driver opened the door, I could have sworn I developed wings and flew over everyone haha. I actually took advantage of the fact that I only carried a small bag and I was smaller in size compared to the other passengers. I pushed and shoved my way through the raging crowd like a rat in a maze and I got in the bus and secured myself a good seat. The lady who came in almost the same time I did was also aiming for my seat but she ended up sitting on my laps because I sat down first. She didn't have time to argue because the bus was getting full, so she quickly moved to the next available seat. I later found it that I actually knew her but I never looked at her face during the struggle haha, we later laughed about it.

What surprised me most was that while I was trying to get in the bus through the door, some people had jumped in through the windows! I was surprised to find more people in the bus because I thought I was one of the first few people to get in only to later realise that some people had come in through the window and someone came in through the boot.

It was a wild experience and I wish I could say that that was the craziest thing to happen during that journey but it wasn't even close. It was still a memorable event anyway.

Thanks for reading, happy new month!

Really, Daria, it is quite an odyssey to enter a bus in these conditions. The sick, elderly or children would not be able to do that painful exercise of physical endurance. hehehe.

Yes, that's why I called it a battle. The conditions to enter that bus was not in the favour of anyone who needed some help, it was crazy.

Oh, a very familiar situation-a bus crush. Why do people turn into animals for a place. The bus station is making a big mistake by not giving time tickets to passengers.

Hahaha it is hard to select a topic first. When i do this, one thing is in mind that, will i get some motivating reward or not.? But most of the time i didn't get anything, I'm newbie here, still learning how to write in a good way.

We were heading to Lagos. If course, it's a Lagos behaviour lol. Everyone there seemed like they lived in Lagos too and were going back home, I was determined to reach home that day lol

Hahahah, this got me laughing. This is Lagos lifestyle, i encountered this the first time I visited Lagos. It was 6:00am and I was late for a function scheduled by 7:00am. When a bus arrived, I didn't looked at my well "ironed starched" clothe, I squeezed myself in🤣🤣
