Bus Ride
Hey everyone, how is February going so far? I hope it's going well and we're trying to make the best out of it.
Have anyone else noticed the crazy fluctuations in BCH. I have even way less than I did yesterday because of the dip.
Anyway, I've been struggling with unsteady power supply for a while and it has been affecting a bunch of things but I still try to find a way out. Today, I have some stuff to do and a deadline to meet but after a while if doing them, I realised I was getting exhausted so I took a break to write. I may not be able to reply comments or leave comments myself until later but I'll try my best.
As a continuation to yesterday's article. Remember I mentioned that wasn't the only crazy thing to happen during that journey.
If you haven't read yesterday's article, you can read it here:
After we got in the bus, we paid the person collecting the money. They sat us 5 in a row instead of three; the bus was so congested that we could barely move our feet. We were sweating a lot and I could feel my nausea coming. Since there was no air conditioning, we had to open the windows wide for breeze to come in. With all these discomfort, we were charged extra for our fare. Passengers spent a lot of time arguing with the person in charge for a while which delayed us. I couldn't talk much because I wasn't feeling so good. The people in charge didn't budge and we had to pay the extra fee. They did it that way because they knew there was no other bus and we would almost do anything to leave with this bus especially after the whole struggle to get in.
After a while, we were on the move. I had a brief conversation with the girl I knew in the bus and then I put my head on my lap. I didn't stay long in that position because the bus started rocking dangerously. I sat up and looked around to see that we were on a very bad road. I had made that trip a few times but never encountered such bad road. People started telling at the driver, asking him why he took that route and he said he was told that there was traffic on the normal route. The other passengers kept shouting and I found out we were on the road used by heavy vehiclesike trailers, big water trucks etc. They take that route to avoid being on the busy roads with other smaller and fast-moving vehicles, and their constant use of that route somehow dameged the roads.
The minibus was not equipped in any way to be on that road. With each movement, the bus would dangerously bend to the side. The driver had to move so slowly in order not to topple the bus over. This went on until the bus suddenly stopped in the middle of the bad road. At this point I wasn't having it because those heavy trucks could easily crush us. I called out to the driver for an explanation, and he smiled and send he had ran out of petrol. Apparently, he didn't fill up the bus before picking up passengers.
Everyone was furious. The first thing we did was to carefully open the door of the bus which was in a weird position and was bent like it was going to fall. We all got out quickly because a trailer was approaching. The floor was muddy and filled with an extreme amount of potholes. The driver took a small plastic keg to get fuel. There was no filling station in sight so we didn't know where he was going to. My friend and I, together with most of the passengers started following him. The road was deserted except for the big vehicles that drove scarily down the bad road. After a long walk, we found a route that led to a village. It was there that we found a native whom we enquired from about a petrol station. He directly the driver somewhere and got a commercial bike to take him. It was over an hour before the driver and bike man returned. After fueling the bus, we continued our journey.
I got home at night that day. A journey that was supposed to last for three hours at most lasted for seven.
It happens almost everywhere. Once I was travelling for the city then I faced problems like that. And once even in the city I faced that kind of problem. We are out of the options.
