You have just stumbled upon how human beings actually work.
Perhaps the greatest human misunderstanding is that our feelings and our experience come from the world around us.
From people, events and circumstances.
And I admit, it’s a pretty compelling illusion.
However, it is only an illusion.
Look closer and you will begin to notice that although the circumstances of our life stay the same, our experience of them changes from week to week, day to day, and moment to moment.
That doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you.
On the contrary, that’s a natural and inevitable part of being human.
Our entire experience of life is not created by the outside world, but rather from the inside by the ebb and flow of mental energy.
That is why one day/week/moment you feel confident and the next you feel insecure.
Everyone goes through this. Rock stars, CEOs, and yes, even transformative coaches :)
Now, if you don’t realize this is a normal part of being human, you are likely to start analyzing it and applying strategies and coping mechanisms to deal with it.
That, however, is a colossal mistake.
Every time you try to fix how you feel, you are simply adding more thought into your mind when what you are really looking for is simply a calm, clear state of mind.
In other words, adding more thinking is the opposite of what you should be doing.
Would you like to know what I do when I have insecure, anxious and stressful thinking?
I feel insecure, anxious and stressful.
That’s it.
I don’t try to analyze it.
I don’t try to avoid it.
I don’t try to fix it.
I simply let those feelings come and go as it pleases, because I know they aren’t anything personal.
And when I don’t interfere with my contaminated thinking, it goes away all by itself without me having to do anything about it.
