Often times when I got ask what course I'm taking the follow up question is "Oh, so do you make drugs?", and they mean the illegal ones. Chemical engineers cover a lot of field of work. There are various fields you can apply for after graduating and getting your license. I can share you what I've learned about paths Chemical engineers can walk through as they step in their journey in career.
Energy and Fuel Sector cannot operate completely without Chemical engineers. In every power plants like Geothermal, Hydroelectric, Nuclear power plants, and others, Chemical engineers are behind the processing of the energy sources that we enjoy today. Furthermore, they not only process usual energy sources and fuels such as petroleum, but also continuously search for other renewable and sustainable sources of energy.
• Food and Beverages
Chemical engineers play an important role in food industry, one example is formulation of new products in order to meet consumer's demand. Also, preparation, packaging and preservation of food and beverages are part of their work.
• BIOTECHNOLOGY
In Biotechnology Industry, Chemical engineers apply biological techniques on living cell to create products to be used in other industries. Some notable works of chemical engineers in the field have led to the production of artificial organs, recombinant DNA, antibiotics, hybrid plants, and more.
• Environmental, Safety, and Health
In this area, Chemical engineers involved in the environment from waste minimization to personal health and safety. They design processes to minimize the production of harmful by-products from various industries, lessen waste, and generally increase the efficiency of production.
If you want to be a Chemical engineer but the above mentioned industries haven't pique your interest you can further read about Chemical Process Industry, Academe, Design and Construction, Law, and Finance.
There are a lot of careers you can pursue if you want to be a Chemical engineer. Almost every companies and industries need chemical engineers to operate. Don't Chemical engineers make drugs?-Chemical Engineers do make drugs, but not the illegal ones.
You can comment down your thoughts. Thank you for reading🤗
You're a chemical engineer??? As far as i know, chemical engineers handle mostly large scale processing? Feel free to correct me though. Because it's mostly chemists and pharmacists who do the formulation
