I'm an orphan teenager, was very poor. To earn bread and for education, I carried various small goods from house to house.

One day I didn't have a cent left in my pocket. Tormented by hunger, I decided to go to the nearest house and ask for food. I was embarrassed, but when I approached the house, I was seized by a sense of determination: whether they will refuse or not. I reached out resolutely to the bell and pressed the button several times. But when a young and very beautiful girl opened the door, I was suddenly taken aback. Not a trace remains of the recent confidence. I just felt ashamed to ask her for food. Stammering with excitement, said: - Can I ... ask you for ... a glass of water? The girl realized that the young man was hungry and brought him a large glass of milk.

I drank it slowly and asked, “How much do I owe you?” “You don’t owe me anything,” the girl replied. “My mother taught me never to take anything for a good deed. In that case, thank you very much! I replied.

When I left her house, I felt not only stronger physically, but also mentally. Now I was sure: as long as there are such generous and kind people in the world, everything will be fine!

Many years later. And then one day a young woman, a resident of this city, became seriously ill. The local doctors didn't know what to do. In the end, they decided to send her to a big city to be examined by experienced specialists. Among those invited to the consultation was Dr. Guru (me). When I heard the name of the town this woman came from, my face brightened up. I immediately got up and went to her room. The woman, tired from the road, slept. I quietly entered the room and immediately recognized her. Yes, it was she - the same girl who once treated me to a glass of milk. After reviewing her medical history and test results, my face darkened.

"She's doomed!" I returned to my office and sat silently for some time, thinking about something. I thought about this woman, about his powerlessness to help her, about the injustice of fate. But the more I thought, the harder his eyes became. Finally, I jumped up from my chair and said: “No, I will do everything possible and impossible to save her!”.

From that day on, I paid special attention to the sick patient. And now, after almost eight months of a long and stubborn struggle, I defeated a terrible disease. The young woman's life was now out of danger. I asked the hospital's accounting department to prepare an invoice for his treatment. When the bill was brought to me, the amount that the woman had to pay for her cure was enormous. And it is not surprising - it can be said that she was taken from the next world. I looked at the bill, picked up a pen, wrote something on the bottom of the bill, and asked her to take the bill to her room.

Having received the bill, the woman was afraid to open it. She was sure that for the rest of her life she would have to work tirelessly to pay for it.

In the end, overpowering herself, she opened an account. And the first thing that caught her eye was the inscription made by hand and located right under the line

“Pay”.

The caption read:

“Paid in full with a glass of milk. Dr. Guru"

Tears of joy welled up in her eyes, and her heart was filled to the brim with warmth and gratitude.

Goodness is never wasted and always returns in one form or another.

I actually learnt a lot from this story. It was good of the girl to help the boy by giving a large glass of milk even though he had requested for only a glass of water.Because of what the good deed the girl did for the boy in this past, she had not expected he boy would be the doctor to save her life. Which is why in life one must always be ready to help the poor and the needy because you don’t know when you would be in need of something important
