5 Important Settings We Need To Change On Our Phone
In my previous post I talked about how to customize a TV set according to our own preferences.
I also mentioned about customizing my phone and that I was tired of personalizing the looks of my mobile devices.
In today's post, I am going to share with you things that are really needed for you to change your phone settings.
I don’t have the privilege to own an Apple iPhone so I’m going to tackle more about Android phone settings.
These days people seem to can’t live without a Smartphone and of course with internet connection. Crypto earners for sure will freak out if their phone is stolen or lost. Because you know, our phone is our wallet. Or I should say it is an asset and a liability as well.
Anyway let’s go down straight to our topic for today. This may sound like customizing your phone but these settings are the ones you should be prioritizing when it comes to your security and privacy.
1. Secure your phone
Every year Smartphone companies are innovating mobile devices. They are making innovations not only in phone capability but also with security.
People have different choices on how they will lock and unlock their phone. The most common is the password pattern. Some people make a pattern password that consists of ten slides which is good. But for me I only use 3 slides for ease of unlocking my phone which of course is a weak password. However I enable facial recognition as a back up for a more secure password.
New Android models have biometrics and voice recognition and you need to utilize that security feature for a high level of security.
2. Lock down your device
Note that sometimes we have family relatives visiting our house and for some reason we have other people coming into our home. There is a chance that our phone might not be safe so we need to lock down our phone so that other people can’t access it if they try.
You need to go to your phone's settings and turn on the lock phone screen when idle for more than 2 minutes. But it is advisable to make it auto lock at least one minute.
You might also need to hide sensitive messages so that random people might not get any information just by looking at your phone.
3. Figure out how you want to save your photos
Keeping photos in our gallery is good especially when we are used to saving information with screenshots. Sometimes we keep saving photos until we finally realize that we ran out of storage in our device.
It really sucks when we are filming an important event but was not saved due to storage full.
We all have Google accounts right? You can use Google photos to save your photos automatically to the cloud. Just go to your Google account settings and turn on backup and sync. All photos in your phone's gallery will be automatically uploaded to your Google cloud drive and it is free.
4. Change how your phone tracks you
All Smartphones have GPS installed in it and this is the reason why our location can be tracked wherever we go. This is very helpful in general but if you are not comfortable with this you can always change how your phone will track you. Just go to your phone's setting and select which app you want to access where you are.
You may want to disable the tracking system by turning off your location. Just remember that you cannot access map direction if this feature is turned off.
5. Make sure you can find and restore your mobile phone
I have read a post from social media and I can’t remember who made such remark.
“These days losing a phone is more dramatic than losing virginity.”
Funny may it seem but it does make sense. So you may want to give this last tip more importance if for some reason your phone was lost or stolen.
This might help you retrieve your phone or if not at least protect your data and everything on your phone.
In your phone setting, set up Find My Device. These services can help you track your phone and wipe all the information remotely if you think your phone is in some bad guy’s hand.
You must understand that if you care about saving your assets you have to have back up.
Remember that the only person responsible for losing your valuables is you.
Thanks for reading. Ciao!

Those are helpful tips in securing some information in our phone. And the gps thing, I'll check it on my phone hehe. When you sync your photos in Google cloud, can you still retrieve it when you deleted it in your gallery?
