How often do you talk to yourself
A couple of hours ago, I was on my way to get some stuff from the grocery stuff when I was almost knocked down by a young man coming from the opposite direction. To say this guy was lost in his thoughts was an understatement, he was literally unaware of his environment. Initially I thought he was on call, but there was no earpiece over his ears niether was he holding a phone. The young man was just having a serious conversation with himself that he wasn't looking at where he was going to.
If not that he had a nice suit, a nice haircut with two new pairs of shoes to match, one would definitely think he had just gone mad.
Ofcourse,we all have sometimes engage in a little conversation with ourselves from time to time especially when we are alone. Psychology have proved that talking to one's self is a healthy human behavior. It helps in improving one's concentration and analysis.
But talking aloud to yourself on the road could often be interpreted as early signs of instability or disorder.
Talking to oneself in private ain't bad at all, especially when we are dealing with serious issues and there's no one around to talk about it too. Personally, I sometimes do talk to myself when I am standing in front of a mirror. Based on the mood, I could scold me, motivate me or even compliment me.... You know when you speak positive things to yourself, you might also positive things.
I often do verbalize my thoughts in order to strengthen my memory, especially when I am preparing for an exam or test, that way I'm not easily distracted as I would always be at alert. It's actually not uncommon for students to vocalize all what they have crammed from textbooks during examination periods.
Some individuals might just find comfort in voicing out their thoughts when alone as it helps them clear their minds. They believe talking to themselves might help them fine up with a quick solution about a lingering problem. Other times, it could be as a result of accumulated stress, or overwhelming emotional weights. In this case, speaking out aloud could help loosen the the burdening of the heart. In some cases, it could even worsen the situation and make the individual more miserable, especially when there's happens to be no possible solution in sight to the challenges that one is going through.
