Successful people start early

At the age of 16 a boy dropped out from school. He along with a friend started a magazine and made some money by selling advertisements. As he had very little money so he started the magazine from an abandoned room in the church. After four years of running the business he now wanted to increase the business, so he started selling mail order records to students who subscribed his magazine. His mail order sold well and he built a record store next year. Then he decided to make his own record label and recording studio.

So he and one Mike Oldfield, a local artist created a hit song and it sold 5 million copies. His business flourished over the next decade and now he started airlines business, mobiles and trains and many more. And now after 50 years he has over 400 businesses and is a billionaire. He is Richard Branson.

Here is the story of how he started his airlines business, the Virgin Airlines.

He was in his late twenties and was not famous till then. He was on his way to Virgin Islands where a pretty girl was waiting for him and he did not want to be late. As luck would have it, the flight was cancelled and it was the last flight of the day. But he was eager to go so he talked with a chartered flight operator but could not afford the price.

So what he did was he took a card board and wrote on it Virgin Atlantic flight 29 dollars to Virgin Islands. Many who were missing the flight took it and now he had full capacity including him in the chartered flight and the money to pay for it. So they all reached Virgin Island that night.

This will give you some idea how rich and successful people think. The basic thing is that these type of people start early in life without being ‘ready’ as per common perception. He started so many a business that he would never have felt that he is ready to handle all of them. He had no idea of flying a plane or anything about it but still he started his airline business.

When you work on something important then you will never feel that you are ready for it. But the challenge, excitement and the confusion of it will still pull you to do it. This feeling of unpreparedness and unqualified will always be there. This is what holds us back and most of us stop here only. This first step into the unknown is the most important step in becoming successful. The plans can be changed and amended on the way but If you have the confidence you then it is always better to take the first step.

Whatever you are trying to do, be it writing a book or lose weight or anything, you need to make a start and things will flow out of it automatically. There is no right time for it, the right time is now. All the self made rich and successful people started the same way – no money, no resources and lack of experience but what differentiates is that they decided to start.

Not all have this level of conviction and confidence so you find so few of such people. It is there strength and our weakness, but still be find reasons to shift our failure to some other reasons. This is not only limited to the land of opportunities like America and Europe but also in third world countries you can find many examples of people who have become immensely successful because of this. So it is not the place but the person who decides the course of his destiny.
