Good self-care is very important, as it is a self-responsibility that has an impact on the state of your health.
Practicing self-care has nothing to do with the roles you have in life, nor with your age. It is necessary to be our priority and dedicate time to ourselves, this will help you to fully enjoy your life and will also help you to be happier.
Taking care of ourselves depends on ourselves, therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the typical phrase "when I have time", it is necessary to be alone for a while, to rest from everything that surrounds you, otherwise, stress or anxiety could harm you and worsen your health.
You will probably ask yourself the question "What do I need?". The fundamental thing is to understand that self-care is something very personal and that what you need to cultivate it is in you, in your particular tastes.
In conclusion, self-care is recognizing that each person is responsible for his or her own well-being, which includes that well-being extending to family and community, i.e., making the right choices, respecting yourself as a person, finding empathy, but letting go when necessary. After recognizing this, you can protect your well-being by taking actions that are beneficial to your mental, physical and emotional health. These actions become habits, with the very goal, of course, being healthy habits.
Why is self-care important?
Well, when each of us takes care of ourselves, we become aware of our body and its needs, promoting our physical and mental health, increasing our self-esteem.
Self-care brings long-term benefits in health maintenance as well as disease prevention.
How to get started with self-care?
Personally, I believe that accepting several things about oneself will be helpful, for example
Forgiving yourself: we are human beings, therefore, we all make mistakes, but the important thing is to accept that mistake and grow, mature and move forward. For example, if you have lied and want to tell the truth later, do it, apologize and move on.
Take a break when you consider it necessary: As I mentioned before it is good to take a break, to calm your emotions and think clearly.
Stay away from toxic people: Staying away from certain people helps a lot to improve your physical and emotional health. In fact, there is a phrase that says that to be happy it is necessary to get away from the conflicts caused by certain people, as they absorb our energy and cancel our ability to react.
There are many activities you can enjoy and do for good self-care:
Read a book
Practicing a hobby or a sport
Going to a spa
Spending time alone or with friends.
These are some activities to live in harmony and wellness. Remember that life cannot be based on the acceleration of work or other similar issues, as this is very harmful to health and it is always necessary to have time for ourselves.
