A government's purpose is to enforce regulating rules to the society to maintain peace and order, defend our territories, grow our economy, settle foreign affairs, and provide service to the public. With this purpose, we elect officers with the qualified capabilities to do the job for us. We choose certain people who have great plans for our future and pay them with our taxes.

Election season is now on a spree. We can now expect to see a lot of advertisements from different politicians running in different positions. A lot of caravans, and other means to catch the attention of the public convince us to vote for them. In their pursuit of persuasions, a lot of platforms will be laid into the ears of the public, convincing us again with their tons of lies. Well, not all politicians run for their interests but I can say that most of them and it is pretty obvious, isn't it?

And speaking of platforms, we are not yet at the peak of political campaign periods but I'm sure you have heard a lot of them already. They will intentionally slip their empty promises during interviews to appear like a decent and promising candidate in the eyes of the public. Speaking with conviction, with matching concern and serious facial expression, as if they would actually do what they have promised.

There's one similar promise that I hear from almost all of the aspiring candidates. That promise is no other than giving cash assistance to the greatly affected sectors by this pandemic. Saying that they will increase the amount or something. They are obviously targeting the lower class and middle-class citizens just so those were the ones who are greatly affected.

But, don't you think that it's a little off? This pandemic is taking forever to be resolved but, they can only think of cash assistance to aid the public. Where do you think the budget for cash assistance will come from? Of course, from our taxes. However, how can we pay our taxes when our economy is down since business establishments are still not running normally because the virus isn't still contained? If that's what they can just think of as a solution to this vast suffering of the public, we will go down along with their twisted minds.

They spit out programs regarding cash assistance and offering the public that they will be given regularly, making us only rely on them just so they can keep their positions tightly on their hands. I think you know who are these politicians whom I am talking about. Just like the famous, 10,000 pesos cash assistance proposal for every family by Cayetano. Pacquiao's distributing cash assistance wherever he goes. Robredo's promise to allocate 216B pesos just for cash assistance in her first 100 days in term if she will be elected as the next Philippine President in 2022 and many more.

I don't mean to say that giving cash assistance is a bad thing. I mean, can they propose more lifelong assistance than just cash which will just last for a few days? They can suggest better ideas to improve the regulations so that businesses could open up. In that case, wouldn't people can have jobs and the economy will gradually soar? They are just leading people to always turn to them, to rely on them on every crisis, and to always ask for cash. In short, they are making the people to be lazy to stand back on their own. Again, as I said earlier, just so they can keep their positions intact, with all due respect to these politicians.

2022 is fast approaching and just 5 months to go before the election day. Having said that, I would like to appeal to my fellow Filipinos here to choose a candidate who has, not just the heart to serve the country, not just the one who is sincere with his work, not just the one who has good credibility, but also someone who has good, effective, and efficient plans to lift us all from this suffering that we are currently experiencing.

I don't want to mention any candidate for recommendations for I, myself, have been currently examining them carefully. It is for the sake of our future, not just ours but for all the people in our country, so let's vote wisely. Don't just vote because they are famous. Don't just vote because they are powerful and wealthy. Don't just vote because they appear to have good credentials and clean background.

If there's one thing that I had learned from listening to the radio every day, it is how we vote wisely. Let me borrow the words of Ted Failon. He put it simply like this, "If you are in favor of the current administration, vote for continuity. If you are in the opposition, then vote for change." So simple, isn't it? I think it is now obvious who are the candidates on the administration and who are the candidates on the opposition.

It's all over the news for days. I can't shake it off on my mind. I'm writing my opinions here, no offense intended. I hope I can awaken some minds here and make a little inspiration. If you got my point, then that's great.
