Education has gotten worse?
Hello hello wonderful people of read.cash, sorry for disappearing from read,cash.... But I've been on other things....
As you may know if you have read my previous writings. Luis has two 7 year old nieces and nephews, Isabella and Daron.
Lately we have been spending our days at Luis' mother's house, Isabella lives there with her parents.
But currently her parents work every day and for a child to grow up without her parents is difficult. His mother works from 5am to 10pm and his father from 2pm to 3am. His grandfather works from 8am until 3pm and if he has any extra gigs, there's no telling what time he'll be home and his grandmother is a seamstress, so she spends all day sitting in front of a sewing machine.
So lately I have been helping Isabella with her homework, that's why I have been so absent from read.cash, I spend the day playing with her or tutoring her. At my in-laws' house there is no internet and I arrive too late and tired at night to sit at the laptop to write for read.cash. I know I am not a replacement for her parents, but I try not to make Isabella feel lonely.

Spending time with Isabella I have realized that education has gone down in quality, I understand that right now there is a serious illness around the world, but I don't think it is enough to lower the quality of the classes, or the teacher's corrections that much.
What worries me the most, is that I don't know if this is in the whole country, in the whole world or just in that school. It's quite a worrying issue that education has declined so much.
And it makes me feel bad, because even though I am not currently working in a school giving classes, all the classes I have given I have tried to improve and that the student learns more and more, that there is never any doubt in the class, that the child is without doubt in the content that I have given him.
I remember when I was little and in 1st grade I saw classes from 7am to 12pm. I had classes in Spanish, computer, English, sports, math, etc, etc, etc. I learned a lot in school, especially computers which I was so interested in.... I think I saw 5 or 7 subjects.
Now... At Isabella's school, they don't teach subjects like computer science or English, and the number of subjects, in my opinion, has decreased.
Isabella currently sees classes 2 or 3 days a week. On Mondays she sees pedagogy and math classes, in "pedagogy" they actually teach her how to write. In math they are teaching her addition and subtraction, but they tell her that 100-100=000, okay that's fine to start with or good to be in the middle of 1st grade. But at some point the child must understand that 100-100 is not 000, only 0....
On Tuesdays they teach him Spanish, but it's the same as in pedagogy....
On Fridays he sees sports, but not every Friday, one Friday yes and one Friday no...
The homework is super short, in mathematics only one addition and one subtraction and in the rest of the subjects one or two sentences...
I understand that he is in first grade, but he only sees 2 classes a week and they don't always send him homework, is the child really learning?
As I have spent so much time with her I have dedicated myself to teach her other things, because she is from 1pm to 9pm alone on the tablet or watching TV every day.
Why is this?
Her parents are always working and her grandparents are always working. Her grandmother is the one who takes care of her, but she works from home, so she can't always take care of her. So Isabella only watches TV or plays and I have noticed that she is a very intelligent child.
I have been looking for alternatives so that she is not always watching cartoons, but also learning. I am teaching her to play the Venezuelan cuatro instrument, and in just one day of classes she learned half of a song that she likes very much which is "Let It Go" from Frozen, it is not as simple as it sounds, but with attention and dedication the child learns, we should not underestimate her intelligence.
Children are little sponges that absorb everything you teach them.
I also looked for different applications for her tablet to help her improve, I found a very fun addition and subtraction game. She recently started that game and has improved a lot as she is having fun and learning. Last week she was telling me that 5+0=0, and she has already understood addition and subtraction much better.
If we underestimate the intelligence of children, they will not learn correctly, they will learn very little.
I have also made the effort to teach Isabella English. Isabella has already learned colors, numbers and simple sentences, I also downloaded an app for her tablet so she can continue practicing English on her own and she has improved a lot. As I said before, in her school they do not teach her English and I think it is important....
Maybe in her school they don't teach English, but if they change her to a school where they do teach English, it will be a little more complicated for her to learn, it is better to take advantage of her age to teach her different things that will help her in life.
Isabella doesn't like to read, in her school they don't really teach her to read, they just go and write what the teacher says. I understand that education comes from home, and that her parents are absent, but it seems crazy to me that they only give her 3 or 4 subjects and don't really teach her. I have also noticed that the teacher does not check the homework properly, because Isabella has made some mistakes in writing and the teacher does not correct it, she puts a symbol that it is ok....
There are also many assignments that are not understood, they just take a sheet of paper from a book and stick it in the notebook as homework, but the activities are poorly written, I think it could be done a little better, I don't know? As I said before, I'm really worried about education, I don't know if this only happens in your school or if it happens all over the world.
"The pandemic has shown that the preparation of our students at the primary, secondary and university levels has been very precarious. It is sad to see how there are fourth and fifth year students who still do not know how to read or write well. The government must revise the curriculum now", said Jhonny Martinez, president of Asopadres Vargas. https://laverdaddevargas.com/?p=178491
It seems crazy to me that a child reaches fourth or fifth grade and does not know how to read or write and this is not due to the pandemic, it is because it is not taught correctly in schools and not all parents are aware of their children's learning, perhaps because they are too busy at work or because they think that the school has to take care of everything.
I think that many parents do not understand that their children's studies also depend on them, but I also think that it is wrong for a teacher to leave their students with doubts or not teach them a little more, but they limit the students' ability to learn.
Unlike before the pandemic, now Isabella has 5 or 6 classmates and Daron has only 2 classmates, so why does the teacher limit learning so much? Even though he now has fewer students and it is easier to explain to them, why does he only teach them one addition and one subtraction in 2 hours of class? Doesn't he realize that he can teach them a little more? You can give them a little more exercises so that they don't have doubts.
Children need attention from their parents and to help them in their studies, but they also need the basic education of the school.
Thank you my dear friend for reading my article to the end... I would love to know what you think about the current education and if in your country education has improved or worsened over the years.
Remember that I have some wonderful sponsors who you can follow and read their wonderful stories.

Greetings from Venezuela😊❤️
The problem in Venezuela is not only the pandemic, but also the fact that the teacher's salary is so low that many teachers have abandoned schools and high schools to dedicate themselves to something else that gives them a better return, many have left the country looking for new alternatives.
