You may have read the famous novel "Frankenstein's Monster" of Mary Shelley. The mad scientist Victor Frankenstein made a 8 feet tall monster, who later kills the bestfriend and wife of Frankenstein. While taking revenge, the monster killed him too. Without creating such monsters like the pages of a book, many scientists have lost their lives due to their own inventions. Here I am presenting 5 unfortunate scientists from history.
Marie Curie
Marie Curie is world famous for her invention of "Radioactivity". She won 2 noble prices for her invention. But this invention became the cause of her death. She had no idea about that. It was too late when she discovered the harmful effects of radioactivity. She was affected with "Aplastic Anemia". She died of that disease in 4th July, 1934.
Henry Smolinski
He was an engineer. He invented the design of a flying car for an American company named "AVE". While flying with his own invented car, in 1973, he died.
Valerian Abakovsky
Valerian Abakovsky was an Russian scientist. He invented a high speed train using the engine and propeller of a plane. In 1921, that train successfully completed its first journey from Moscow. But the train didn't return to Moscow. Valerian Abakovsky died when a train accident occurred at the age of 26.
Horace Lawson Hunley
He was a lawyer who was interested in submarine. His first 2 invention of submarine was not successful. So he tried for the third time and started journey with his friends in his own invented submarine. In 15 October, 1863 ; the submarine sank in South Carolina. Hunley died along with his 7 crew member.
Perillos of Athens
A terrible instrument made at the behest of King Phalaris of ancient Greece. Its name was "Brazen Bull". This bull-shaped instrument was made by a bronze craftsman named Perillos. Inside of it, people were burned alive. The device was made in such a way that the screams of the people burning inside could be heard like the roar of a bull outside. But who knew, he himself will be the victim of the self-made instrument. He was burned inside the instrument at the king's command to test the device.
