In July 2018 I said goodbye to the work that was taking my peace of mind. All that big corporation mind-bending pressure and consumerism were making me unhappy and physically sick. Since then I drastically reduced my expenses, and am leaving accordingly my slim income, I also took the time to research more about how to earn money online, cryptocurrencies, fiat money, and why we think that we always need more and more to feel that our life has worth and to be happy. One of the things I understood is:

No one can pinpoint the origin of money. Societies always found means to exchange products. Value is subjective, and money as we know it, it’s a recent tool. We are on the third stage of the history of money, the digital revolution, and have in front of us a new opportunity to recreate concepts about what real wealth is, and how to use technology to help us shape a better ecosystem. An ultimate form of barter with unlimited scale and complete flexibility.
We are living in a moneyocracy
Our day to day life is ruled and governed by money. If for some reason we are unable to “earn” money, sooner or later, a feeling of exclusion permeates our being. The products we use, like the clothes we dress, are manufactured to perish fast. Groceries are expensive, and what we can find for a reasonable price and quality takes time to prepare. Houses are even more expensive. This scenario can be daunting, to be without absolutely no money, and no quick way to get it. We are unable to guarantee our basic needs, and also in the eyes of society, and our own, we are “Worthless”.
Humans are complicated social animals that interact with one another in countless ways. Throughout the eras and diverse cultures, as in all life forms, there is a quantification of supplies, labor, and currency, which together and in interaction with the environment, guarantee the ideal conditions for the survival and prosperity of the species.
The diversity of life on Earth is astonishing
Nonhuman species have whole systems based on survival and evolution. All creatures are part of a system and perform certain tasks. In return, they live, subsist and procreate, and meet their ultimate purpose. On a macro scale, the product created by a species will symbiotically influence the functioning of one or more ecosystems. Every organism is shaped by, and in turn shapes, its environment. Nature does this in a very harmonious way. Nothing is lost everything is transformed, nature really recycles...
Humans are animals with a very complex social structure
Throughout the ages, we have arranged systems and created tools that make life easier for us. All forms of life are organized in order to live, reproduce, and evolve. For this we create the necessary conditions to achieve our purpose, using resources, adapting, and exchanging with other species.
When a society is formed by a small number of individuals, it’s easier to connect with our peers. We know everyone and can exchange wealth/value with trust and meaning. We trust because we have direct contact with the other. On the other hand when a society, like an organism, finds the “right environment” it multiplies. Bigger numbers require different strategies, and we somewhere in time, have put the direct “Trust” in a system that automatized the way we trade. The problem arises when the “system” starts to fail, due to human error, or greed, and instead of working for us starts working against us.
We are trained to believe that money is the only acceptable medium for the exchange of value and as a result, we neglect all other meaningful ways we can connect and share. Also, the oligarchic system manipulates consumption habits and validation of belief systems.
At this point, we have our “TRUST” invested in a system we don’t trust… How awkward is that?
