Question: Very small Surprise Bitcoin Cash Transaction

So I just got a very small amount of BCH sent to my wallet on another site (less than one cent USD) that I was not expecting. What is up with this? Is there some kind of scam associated with this sort of transaction?

Since you don't define "wallet," there is another possibility if you are using cashfusion (possibly enabled by default in Electron Cash?). Here is a relevant answer to someone else asking a similar question on reddit:

I also sometimes get such transactions. They are mostly advertising transactions. If you look at the transaction in Block Explorer, you will see that an advertising text is sent with the transaction.

Interesting, I'll check that out, thanks! It came about 15 mins after a transaction I expected, so I suppose they might just send those advertising transactions to accounts they see getting transactions? That would be a clever way to know they are sending advertisements to active wallets...

Or someone has sent you an SLP token. SLP tokens are also sent out as advertising. I also think that it is only sent to active wallets.
