Workplace harassment (part I)
Workplace harassment is all too common and can ruin a great job and turn a company into a toxic and unproductive environment. Often, harassment goes unreported, as victims may be unsure of what qualifies as workplace harassment and what to do when they experience it. ****Workplace harassment**** **(mobbing, abuse, bullying ) is the belittling or threatening behavior directed at an individual worker or a group of workers.**
**We can say that this phenomenon has three main features:** existence of violent behavior (by one or more persons towards the victim of mobbing) lasts for a long period of time and is constantly progressing (because mobbing actually arises from a conflict that has never been resolved and that has escalated; conflict is produced and emerges) the emergence and growth of imbalances can be in an interpersonal relationship (which is definitely violence). ****This can all be abuse in the workplace:****
**Gossip** - when one or more people spread information about another person in order to destroy their reputation and cause their departure (and achieve a better position for themselves) **Mocking** the physical and mental characteristics of the victim **Isolation of a colleague** - either directly or as a consequence of some of the previous behaviors **Retaining important information** that is important for the success of the workplace, artificially creates a stressful situation, the person makes mistakes and makes wrong decisions, and the mobster presents him as incompetent **Administrative and operational measures used by superiors** - the victim is overwhelmed by meaningless additional work tasks due to which he cannot (get to) perform the job for which he was hired and paid **An excessive amount of work** - which exceeds the capacity of the worker and the workplace itself **Excessive criticism** - which is also permanent; the victim begins to doubt his abilities and loses self-confidence **Sexual harassment** **Blackmail** **Discrimination** based on gender, age, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical appearance **Violence** - all type of violence ===============================================================
**Have you or anyone you know ever experienced harassment at work?** **How did you feel?** `Subscribe, part II is coming`

Klasičan narodski trač: Gossip - when one or more people spread information about another person in order to destroy their reputation and cause their departure (and achieve a better position for themselves)
Exactly. Gossip can harm someone's reputation. There are people who don’t think critically and believe in every gossip they hear.
bezbolka i resena stvar
Doesn't violence give us more violence? Physically attacking the boss brings legal consequences. We need to stand up for ourselves, but I’m not sure violence is the right solution.
Because of emotional violence, they hate the job and work they once loved, gradually become desperate and depressed, and often become seriously ill. Some give up, others persist and seek a solution from the vicious circle of psychological harassment. Etymologically speaking, the word mobbing is a derivative of the English verb to mob, which translated into Slovene means "to attack someone, to attack someone in a group or to surround them". In the form of a noun, it also means gang, sodrgo or horha. In the context of psychological harassment in the workplace, the term mobbing was first used by the Austrian ethnologist and zoologist and Nobel laureate Konrad Lorenz. By observing animals, Lorenz came up with surprising results on how a group of animals chase or eliminate an intruder or competitor together, and how individual animals participate.
That's right, working in such conditions, under harassment, does not bring anything good. Depression, anxiety, reluctance to go to work, stress, all this can lead to even more serious illness. We must find a solution to stop harassment at work.
Sam izraz mobing (mobbing) dolazi od engleskog glagola to mob, što znači bučno navaliti ili nasrnuti u masi.Srećom nisam bila u takvoj situaciji.
Thanks for further clarification of the term. Do you know anyone who has been in that situation?
It largely varies on the workplace and the work environment but so many seniors do dump their unwanted work onto their juniors way too much. In some places, that's the most bullying the newbies will receive and that's really good, actually but for the other work places though...
Yes, gaining some experience for new employees is a significant thing, but if it becomes too much of a burden for the workers, and it is not even paid and not in the job description, then it is not ok
Na poslednjem poslu sam bila zrtva mobinga od mladjih kolega i koleginica . Nikada mi se to u zivotu nije desilo, ali uvek moze da se desi. Ne treba cutati, nego se suprostaviti
I'm sorry to hear that. What kind of harassment was it, if it is not a too intimate question? How did you fight for yourself? Did you have any help?
So true This is great
Have you ever heard about the harassment cases in real life? Is that happening at your job?
I have heard, heck I have seen it too
Share with me. Can you describe whats happened?
Okay so like during our industrial practice here, I was paired with some couple other guy from school outside my side and there was a girl called Christy she was working in my department also, she was approached by a man who was married but still wanted entanglement and she refused him, what I can say was the made work for here in that organization hell for her till she was bold enough to talk to us and we help her report the case, I later got to find out that he has been doing that for long with other girls serving there and he penalized I think he was demoted Also my best friend got sent out of school because she would not give one of her lecture who was her level adviser what he wanted from her
It is an example of sexual harassment in the workplace. There was probably blackmail and threats against that girl. I'm glad you reported the case and helped that girl that way. I hope that the bully was punished. Once again, thank goodness you didn't keep quiet about it and you reacted adequately. This will save some future female workers from this abuser. :)
Great article.
Thank you. Feel free to share your opinion.
I don't have amy comment for this.
Why what? Have you ever heard of a case of harassment at work like this? Maybe, someone you know? Maybe you once read it in the newspaper?
ja fala bogu ne radim
This is the following logic: if I am not employed, harassment at work cannot happen to me. xD Certainly, it happens to the people around us, and we have to react when it happens to someone else.
This is really horrible, and unfortunately, many people are facing this. Usually, women are victims of this, but also many men have this problem. We need to fight against this all together. This is a very serious problem that can lead to other problems.
You are right. It’s not just about women, men can also be victims. Abusers can also be men and women.
