New Optimism But The Struggle Continues
Greetings to you all. It’s a new year everywhere in the world, and everyone is buzzing. Merry here and there and the contagious optimism that comes with every New Year is in the air, spreading faster than the Omicron variant of the COVID-19.
When I started this article, I was going to write about something else, but I had dozed off twice on the first paragraph that I decided to write about the struggle many face daily. Especially those who might have to write daily. Barely two weeks here, and I can attest that THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.
Despite the optimism flowing around, the dawn of a new year does not nullify the struggle that comes with being alive. By struggle, I do not necessarily mean hardship. But, being alive itself is no easy task, that’s why there’s an increase in concern for one’s health. People go for check ups to stay ahead and up to date about of their health status, more and more people are exercising now to stay fit and healthy. If you’ve ever indulged in any form of exercise, you’d agree with me that it is not easy at all.
Aside the struggle to stay healthy, people struggle daily to provide – at the very least – their basic needs. And to do this, they work and try to earn money, so they can afford to pay their bills and provide for themselves or their family.
Many persons here can relate to the kind of struggle we go through as writer, there are times you struggle to come up with that perfect topic for your article, and an even greater struggle is what to write about. And you spend a lot of time thinking about what to write, and how to write about it. While this might come easy for many, a lot of people struggle with it daily.
On New Year’s eve, I was watching a documentary about Predator and Prey on Nat Geo, and I thought about how there is a balance in struggle, and even though a prey quakes in fear at the sight of a predator, one does it make it easy for the other, as there is a struggle to stay alive and a struggle to have daily bread.
Even though we’ve been infected by the optimism that comes with the new year, let’s not go with the notion that everything would come easy this New Year. This can get better, Yes! But that is if you continue with the struggle for something better. Keep on working hard and putting in the work and you will surely reap the fruits of your hard work.
CLOSING REMARK
I am sure many of us have come into the New Year with resolutions and goals we have set to achieve. You should know that don’t you shouldn’t set optimistic goals but rather, realistic ones. And while optimistic goals might leave you disappointed because you couldn’t achieve them, realistic goals are much more achievable. It is still Day 1 into the New Year, and you still have 364 days left to achieve your goals. Be strong, as the road might be tough. Stay resilient and never give up, and in the end, you will come out victorious with a smile on your face, and proud of what you have achieved for yourself.

What a nice reflection you got here :) True enough, there is always a struggle somewhere, and whilst setting goals is quite easy, achieving them can be challenging too but just like you said, realistic goals are achievable so let's go for them :)
