Differences

Buenos dias fellow readers. Today has to be one of the most stressful days I have had in a long time. All my basic understanding of Physics had to be applied to most of what I had to do today. You see, about 8 tonnes of fowl feed had to be formulated and converted for today’s work given to my group.

Assuming the least weight you had to move or carry is about 66% your total body weight. You can understand why applying the laws of Physics were important. It was interesting though to so something new and actually learn at it while trying to enjoy every bit of it.

A squabble had ensued between two of my classmates. One of the parties involved was telling me about it. After it had happened, hoping I can talk to the other party involved to steer clear as they didn’t want any trouble.

After hearing both their sides of the issue, the common ground had been that individual differences. The case being one wherein a party A didn’t like how party B had interacted with them, and even though party A told party B to stop it, party B didn’t think party A should be mad about it, as there was something party A did to party B and could have warranted in party B being unfriendly towards party A.

I wondered why one should not be offended about what you do to them because you supposedly tolerated their ill behaviour. Oftentimes, we have had expectations based on our capabilities and personalities. Because we press the toothpaste from the bottom, we expect every other person to do same too.

I am guilty of this too, I have caught myself expecting people to do things a certain way because I do them that way, convincing myself to believe I merely want them to do it the right way. But isn’t right relative? What might be right to one person can be wrong to another person. What might be right in a particular area or zone could be wrong or not common in another area or zone too.

So, it is our responsibility to not judge people so quickly. As they are not the same persons we are. And accepting that it is possible for everyone to be different, have different beliefs and still exist together.

Variation I believe has been an essential factor in the continuity of life. It is what makes the little difference, helping a living thing adapt to its environment much easily. Imagine if every animals were herbivores, and had taste for only the leaves of plants, would we have more or less plants? It is because they all have a taste for different things, that’s why there is a balance that has perpetuated the continuity of life itself.

CONCLUSION

As we go on with our daily lives, let’s ensure we are more tolerant with people. Cut them some slack, as they are not the same person we are, neither could they ever be. Even siblings born and raised by the same parents end up being different people, they might have similar beliefs and hold the same values, that doesn’t not mean they will be the same persons.

People will always have a view, and their opinion and perspective may not align with ours sometimes or every time in fact. We should respect that.
