Exotic Foods I tried to eat
In our life the food is one of our basic needs to survive, we must eat something to fill our hungry stomach, food that we serve as our gasoline to produce more strength and this is why we need to eat.
We usually take food three times a day and we often eat cook rice and with delicious dishes we want, but because of that we must taste and explore more dishes of how it feels and what it's taste. Our curiosity drives us to eat something different that we do not often eat in our daily life.
In this topic, I want to enumerate with you guys the exotic and peculiar foods that I tried to eat before.
Sawa
This is a kind of snake that we usually called here in the Philippines a SAWA, they said that this kind of snake is a ventless snake and some of these snakes can grow bigger than another usual snake we have often seen, saw a snake can grow bigger like the size of your legs and capable to eat a whole live chicken and even pigs. I tried to eat this not only once or twice but maybe more than 15 times in my life as of now. The common kind of cook of this is Adobo, may gata, and fried. At first, we can say that it is nonconducive to eat but when you have the got to try it I can say that it is not bad like what you've seen. It tastes good like other meat.
Palaka/Frog
Have you also tried this one? Since I to raised in a town surrounded by a mountainous area frogs are not new to me, this kind of frog is not the frog we usually see in our backyard but we catch this kind of frog in mountainous areas and we mostly catch it the edge of streams. Some people cook this in Adobo, ginataan, but mostly some want this in a fried frog. It is also nonconducive to see its look but if you try to eat what it tastes maybe you will like it gradually.
Halo
We call it here in our area as a halo/haw but we can see it as a kind of family of a crocodile. Is it a lizard? I'm not sure the English term of it but one for sure I know that I tried this before, I saw ginataan kind of dish of this. It tastes good also but some people say that this kind of food needs to be boiled well to make it soft the meat and easy to eat. It looks like we eat a crocodile but when we try to taste it maybe we can say after that it is not bad at all.
Paniki
We called it a Paniki in Tagalog terms but we often call it a bat, I can't deny the fact that I tried this maybe once? But the bat they usually catch is not the bat we have seen in towns but they usually catch this kind of bat in caves and even tress in mountains.
Batuk
It looks like a worm that can usually live in a coco lumber tree, I attempted to try this before but since I was too young at that time I don't have the gots to try this, I feel like it is too gross to eat at that time and even now haha this one I do not know if I can do that to try.
Balot
Balot, mostly of the Filipinos tried this one balot. It is a very nice exotic street food ever I've tasted that affordable. I tried to eat balot when I was in my high school days coz before I don't like to eat balot with chicken inside but as time goes by I learned to love it and until now. It tastes good. I know the majority of Filipinos tried balot too, and to those who didn't all I can say is try it before you judge it, I'm pretty sure that you'll like it too.
I like to explore some peculiar foods like what I have mentioned above, I like how it tastes, how it looks, and how good these foods are.
How about you? Have you tried one of those exotic foods that I shared above? And what other exotic foods have you tried before?
