They smile but hurting deep inside
October 21, 2022
Yesterday was a busy day for me, since we help in doing atchara and suman with my neighbor for the wedding tomorrow. We are about 10-15 pax who help in there.
And since they were almost relatives thier closeness are different, and I think its only me who is came from a far, dayo kumbaga.
While doing what we are suppose to do our mouth is busy also with different stories and chicka maritess or whatever, and I am just listening to them and laughing if sometimes they are joking.
Beside me was my partners sister and infront of her was the wife of thier nephew, she was wiping the banana leaves that will be using for the suman.
So while grating the papaya, my partner sister ask the woman infront of her with these words.
"Asan ang isang baog?"(where is the other woman that can't bear a child)
After I hear those words, I was like shock and swallow whats inside my mouth, and utter few words.
"Ah ah, si Ate etang grabe ang mga salita eh!(smiling like a dog)(ate etang your words are too harsh)
They all laugh hearing my initial reactions and the woman who was been questioned smile also and replied:
"Sanay na ako ng ganyang tanong(smiling)."
I just smile too at her.
After how many minutes a man(relatives too)came and start joking too.
This time, the other woman is his subject, her words are like these.
Mahirap ang pag-asawa tapos tamad pa, makukuha mo taz kung minsan naman ung walang matres.
Then they all laugh, I was like to myself ano ba itong mga ito grabe magsalita, then the woman she is referring to just smile and never talk back and let the man talk and talk and he leave.
My thoughts
Often times we put all to jokes our words and we did not mind the people we are pertaining to, but did we ever think what if its us who are they pertaining, what will you feel?
Those words are below the belt already, eventhough they are smiling infront of us, we must be extra sensitive and be mindful.
I know they are hurting hearing those words, since they love to see thier mini mes also but maybe its not yet thier time to bear a child, but it doesn't mean that they are baog, and we have the right to used those words to them.
We must be extra sensitive and watch our words, because we dont know what is running through thier mind everytime they hear those words coming from us, don't let the day came that one of them did something that can be a wake up call to us.
Be extra sensitive with others feeling.
Grabe. Uso ba sa kanila 'yung words na "be sensitive", Ate? Sarap plaster-an ng mga bibig eh. And what I can't accept is kapwa pa n'ya babae ang nagsasabi sa kaniya 'nun, hayst.
At least, they should be sensitive naman sana kahit kaunti lang. Being a Mom is what most women wants to be & the fact na ma-diagnosed as "baog" is really heartbreaking. 🙇🏻♀️
