SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 87 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday (Aug 23), with 13 imported infections, said the Ministry of Health (MOH), taking the national tally to 56,353.

The sole new community case reported on Sunday is a work pass holder who is currently unlinked to other cases, said MOH.

The 38-year-old Vietnamese man was detected under the ministry's enhanced community testing to test all individuals aged 13 and above who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection at first presentation to a doctor.

Epidemiological investigations are in progress, said the ministry.

"In the meantime, all the identified close contacts of the case have been isolated and placed on quarantine, and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period so that we can detect asymptomatic cases.

"We will also conduct serological tests for his household contacts to determine if he could have been infected by them," said MOH.
