Yes, the cartilage of the ear (and the nose) grows the whole life. So, technically, long ears give the impression of high age. You should be happy then that your ears are short. It still means that they will grow throughout life, but if you start small, they will not become too long and large.

That the ears grow throughout life is a scientific fact; some researchers deny that it is due to growing cartilage though, and want to attribute it to sagging tissues, but that, in my opinion, is not the reason, or not the only reason anyway. That cartilage never stops growing is also a scientific fact, so it is most likely that it is the major reason for growing ears with growing age.
