Dignity of Labour. Islam encourages every Muslim to seek a lawful livelihood for himself and his family and not to beg, as he is capable of earning a living. One must not refuse any lawful occupation on account of its being low in dignity. While it is honorable to work to earn a living, it is dishonorable to depend solely on begging for a living.
