Meditation is a spiritual healing technique and has many science-supported health benefits. But the research studies also say that individuals react differently to meditation techniques – and that these reactions may not always be positive. It says that meditation amplifies inner problems; if someone has a ‘disposition’ to depression, bipolar disorder, or psychosis, meditation may heighten it. By increasing the internal awareness meditation might expose you to your emotional stress.

Hence researchers do no consider mindfulness as the ‘go-to’ approach for patients struggling with stress or recurrent depression, as one possible therapeutic approach. Mindfulness and meditation are promoted as a way to improve mental health, but they are just one of the tools to relax your mind and it can not replace medications or traditional treatment processes.
