The Charity At One's death
Abu Hurairah "Allah be pleased with him" said: A man asked the prophet "O Allah's apostle! What kind of charity is the best?" He replied: "To give in charity when you are healthy and greedy hoping to be wealthy and afraid of becoming poor. Don't delay giving in charity till the time when you are on the death bed and you say: "Give so much to so-and-so and so much to so-and-so", and at that time the property is not yours but belongs to so-and-so (Your heirs)"

This Hadith says that the best time to give charity is when a person is young, healthy, and eager to save money in order to become rich. It is much better to give charity rather than waiting until a person has become old and has accumulated wealth. To give charity when a person is young and poor is more important than to wait until the last minute of life when it is too late.
