BJP distances itself from Kangana Ranaut: We do not support what she is saying on Mumbai, Mumbaikars and Maharashtra
By - TIMESOFINDIA.COM | Sep 4, 2020, 21:19 IST
The Bharatiya Janata Party has distanced itself from actress Kangana Ranaut after her tweets comparing Mumbai city to Pakistan occupied Kashmir created a major uproar on and off social media.
“We do not support what she is saying about Mumbai, Mumbaikars and Maharashtra” said the party spokesperson in a statement, while claiming that some political parties are trying to shift the focus and distract people from the ongoing Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Stating that the actress should not preach to the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra, the party, through its spokesperson, assured that they do not encourage such comments.
However, they did take a dig at Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, saying, “We would like to tell Sanjay Raut not to try to fulfil his agenda through Kangana in Sushant’s case and the investigation. Considering the current situation, be it Kangana and Sanjay, everyone should not hamper the peace, this is the BJP’s appeal."

The actress has been facing backlash for her comments not just from political parties and celebrities, but also from Mumbaikars. Hitting out at the actress, Raut on Friday urged the Maharashtra government to take against people defaming the city police. He also asked Ranaut to tour the PoK first to see the situation prevailing there.
Talking to reporters, Raut on Friday said Mumbai police had protected the city from all obstacles by sacrificing their lives.
"Mumbai is a part of Maharashtra because of the sacrifice of 106 martyrs. If people who have nothing to do with the city malign it and its police, the state government and the home minister, who is in charge of the police force, should take action, or else the morale of the police will take a beating," Raut said.

An IPS officer has gone to court against this. After, her comparison of Mumbai Police, she has no right to live in Maharashtra or Mumbai.” According to reports, he also hinted that action could be taken against the Bollywood actress for defaming the Mumbai police and the city's image. Early this afternoon, Kangana took to her handle to claim that she had turned down offers from the BJP to join their party. She alleged, “I have denied BJP ticket twice, I am Kangana Ranaut my popularity and yearly income is far more than many successful Ministers and politicians, why not sometimes use your intellect Madam intellectual.”
