HIGHLIGHTS Realme 7 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro are two hot smartphones in India's midrange market. Realme 7 Pro has a smaller battery but the 65W fast charging on it. Redmi Note 9 Pro has a larger display and a bigger battery. Realme launched the 7 series in India in a hope to disrupt the midrange with the 65W fast charging capability that no other smartphone offers in that price category. But while it is lucrative enough, we have some strong rivals in the under Rs 20,000 price segment. One of them is the mighty Redmi, which recently got its separate identity from Xiaomi but unlike Realme is still very much a part of its parent company.

Redmi launched the Note 9 series over the past few weeks, including Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Realme, on the other hand, has Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro. Since it is obvious Realme and Redmi have direct competition, why not compare their latest smartphones.

I have picked the Realme 7 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro to draw comparisons that not only prove which one is mightier, at least on paper but also to give you a better idea on what should be your next smartphone. I am comparing the core hardware that the two smartphones come with.

Display The Realme 7 Pro has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a punch-hole on the top left while the Redmi Note 9 Pro has 6.67-inch LCD with a punch-hole in the middle. Both the smartphones lack 90Hz refresh rate but are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Processor Powering the Realme 7 Pro is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor with up to 8GB of RAM. The Redmi Note 9 Pro is also powered by the same processor but has 6GB of RAM only. Both have the Adreno 618 GPU for graphics.

Software Realme 7 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro run Android 10 out of the box but you get Realme UI on the former and MIUI 11 on Xiaomi's phone.

Camera There is a similarity between Realme 7 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro in the camera department, making it difficult to put a finger on for what your choice should be. But there are still some differences in the sensors and should be worth your glance.

The Realme 7 Pro has a 64-megapixel primary Sony IMX682 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor with 119-degree field-of-view, a 2-megapixel macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel black and white sensor. For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel camera on the Realme 7 Pro.

Redmi Note 9 Pro also has the 64-megapixel camera as its main one, an 8-megapixle ultrawide camera with 119-degree FOV, and a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera but its macro camera is 5-megapixels, which is significantly more than that on the Realme 7 Pro.

Battery It could be the most crucial because, on one hand, Realme 7 Pro has the top-notch 65W fast charging to convince you but the Redmi Note 9 Pro, on the other hand, has a far bigger battery. It is important for you to decide what you want more: a phone that can charge fully in about half an hour or a smartphone that will last at least two-three hours more.

Realme 7 Pro has a 4500mAh battery with 65W charging while the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 5020mAh one with the 30W fast charging.

Price Realme 7 Pro starts at Rs 19,999 while the Redmi Note 9 Pro price starts at Rs 13,999.
