Our need for human companionship reflects the longing for God that is part of our being created in His likeness. The brokenness of frequent divorce, single-parent families, and isolated generations that characterizes today's society is a tragic witness to the consequences of idolatrous service. For when we use human relationships for something other than the living service of God, we serve idols.
